ViewSonic VA2715-2K-MHD 27 Inch 1440p LED Monitor with Adaptive Sync, Ultra-Thin Bezels, HDMI and DisplayPort Inputs for Home and Office, Black 27-Inch 1440p

I purchased a ViewSonic 27" monitor similar to this 5 years ago. The base was flimsy and always awkward to adjust. Then I bumped it from the back and tipped it over, breaking the screen as it fell flat on my desk. This new monitor has a much more sturdy base. It was easy to put together and I can tip the angle of the monitor more easily than the old one. It is brand new to me...but my first impression is very favorable.

I bought this monitor to replace my VX2478-SMHD. I don't like it. It seems to ghost reading text and the picture doesn't seem as crisp. It works and it's bigger than the old one but If I could go back, I would have chosen something else. Oh, and I cannot stand the joystick and how the settings are changed and accessed.

... it shouldn't take nearly an hour to set up a monitor! I bought this monitor as an inexpensive second 27" monitor for my home office, so I would have the same setup as work (where I deal with a lot of very detailed engineering drawings, large spreadsheets, and plant data displays). As such, it's a decent enough monitor. But there are a number of flaws with this thing. The set up instructions (which have to be downloaded, btw) are poorly written and confusing. That's why it took nearly an hour to set up. For one, there's reference to "keys" in them but there are no keys on the monitor. Once you can actually pull up the on-screen menu, it's a terror to get the hang of how it works. Also, it kept prompting me for a resolution mode my laptop doesn't have (was able to disable). Still not getting a good color match with the Windows background, but that's minor. Sound is medicore at best. Rather than buttons, it uses a rear-mounted joystick which I consider a serious design flaw. I can just see this thing breaking off. Why not just use good old-fashioned buttons? Reliability? The first one worked for about 10-15 minutes then it started alternating between blue, red, and green screens. Amazon was gracious enough to replace it within a week. ViewSonic tech support was not helpful. I do highly recomend my other monitor, the VA2719-2K-SMHD. None of these issues, but it isn't cheap.

Will not display in portait mode. Sorry. Monitor , with the base that comes with monitor, will not display in portrait mode. The monitor base is also non-standard and so you cant just put it on a desk arm.
