Nice fit, but this is to be expected since I installed in a Tripp Lite cabinet. But I was impressed with how sturdy the shelf is even though there's no support on the rear of the shelf...just at the ears where the rack nuts fasten. Overall, a good quality shelf.

This is what I needed.

I wanted to love these. Unfortunately, unless you want to mount it upside down, the shelf can only support equipment that is 17 1/8” in width, which means most any network equipment (I had handy) won’t fit in it. There is plenty of space between the sides of the shelf and the sides of the rack rails, so this feels like an oversight by the manuafacturer. My experience has been most equipment that goes in a 2 post rack is between 17 1/4” and 17 1/2” wide. Beyond my misgivings with its width capacity, It is super sturdy, extra long, and a great price.

Very sturdy indeed and pretty heavy as well. One thing I wish I would've thought about -- I use this shelf for two modems, so there are several cables that come out of the back of those devices. From there, the cables hang down off the back of the shelf and go to wherever they need to go to. But there is a bit of a sharp metal edge at the back of this rack that the cables rest on. It isn't "sharp" - but it's just a thin piece of metal that points straight up. For people who are really concerned about taking care of their cables, they may want to consider something else before using this shelf. Other than that, this thing is great!
