This cable does not have clips to lock the cable in place as indicated by other reviewers. The cable works as expected, does not have a "sound quality" attribute. It was not labeled as manufactured by "Tripp Lite" in the plastic bag it was shipped in. In fact, I doubt if Tripp Lite manufactured it. If they had, it would have been labeled as such. It does work fine, and is very low priced, compared to Radio Shack or Best Buy stores so I wouldn't pass it up because the brand is not on the unit. The ad should be corrected to indicate whether Tripp Lite did manufacture this cable however. The shipping costs more than the cable and should have been lower as this weighs only a few ounces at most. Charging $4.95 for shipping a cable in an envelope is way too much.
This "Tripp Lite SATA Cable" is exactly what I needed to install a new hard drive in my HP tower chassis PC. Here are my observations: + Good Quality; the cable and connectors are well made + Good Length; this is long enough to reach anywhere in my mid-seized tower + Inexpensive; even with shipping, this was much cheaper than my local PC store wanted for a similar cable This cable works well and was easy to install. Highly Recommended! CFH
I haven't tested these cables (yet), I bought them because the price, eventually I am going to use them, so far I can tell that they look like good quality cables, good finish and length (considering that they will go inside a desktop case) so I expect they will work ok, I gave 3 stars because of price and construction quality.
Shipping was on time (came in the last day or day before the estimated time range, which was 2 weeks) to Toronto. Cable is plenty long and fitted securely. Not sure if/how to test the transfer rate of 3Gb/s. I tried transferring a file from my other harddrive to this and it maxed out at 60-70MB/s, it could be the limitation in my other hard drive's SATA cable. I ran a performance test on the hard drive and got 100MB/s as the max. It's my first SATA cable purchase and it works without any problems Good product for the price
Thought it would be to short looking at the package. It unrolled though to an amazing length that would easily fit any tower. Don't let the name fool you either. I almost did. It is a SATA data cable for a SATA drive to hook to a motherboard. Nothing could be easier then hooking this up either. All you have to do is plug one end into the drive you wish to connect and the other into the motherboard. No fussing over pin 1 or master/slave jumpers like you have to do with most IDE drives. SATA drives are a wonderfully easy thing to hook up. Seriously doubt that there is anything easier to hook up then this. The only thing you need to hook this cable and the drive to your motherboard(the flat square thing in your tower that everything is connected to) is a 1" long by 1" high tab on the motherboard that has a slight (almost so slight you won't notice at first glance) L shape to it.
