Packaging. Heavy cardboard box and heavy plastic bag. Material. 0.075" 14 gauge steel. Construction. Folded top and bottom back edges. Smooth edges elsewhere. Reinforced rear bends. Finish. Excellent black powder coat on all surfaces and edges. Screws. Ten M4x80 included. Bonus: Made in Taiwan for an American company. But, strangely, no maker's mark. Only negative is the threads are powder coated and need to be chased.

The product description lists the 4U bracket depth as 6.0 inch. The true inside depth measured is 5 21/32 inch (14.4 mm). Other than the issue with inaccurate product measurements, the bracket is solid and good quality. Mounting holes are a true measured 16.0 inch on center.

Installed this (4U version) on a piece of plywood I attached to the basement wall with furring strips and tapcons. The whole thing is rock solid. I have installed a 2U patch panel. As others have said, you need to provide your own wall anchors (I just used #10 wood screws) but it comes with screws for attaching equipment to the rack. I received 9 of those screws. I bought two different wrong screws until I found the correct one - #10-32 1/2". There are other reviews that suggest metric (tried M5/0.8 - no love) or 12-24 but I am 100% sure I have the right one now. I bought the Navepoint 6" deep rack shelf for this which is just a tad too big. I got 4x 1/2" spacers and 4x #10-32 3/4" machine screws which was enough to allow the shelf to fit. One suggestion - if you are going to use the hinge function frequently, get some #10-32 thumb screws for the non-hinged side. You have to undo that side before you can swing the rack equipment out.

Sturdy, does what it's supposed to do.
