There are lots of cables and adapters that claim to be active, but most inexpensive ones don't work as intended - this one does. Is it more expensive than others? Yes it is, but I've quit buying cheap junk and keeping my fingers crossed that it works. I'd far rather just buy a quality product first and not spend hours troubleshooting what turns out to be a junky cable.

There's really no question or debate about it; comfort is really important for people who have to stay at home for some reason or another. Many of us love computers. Some people think that "nerd cred" is important for making one's life experience feel as technologically inclined as possible. This is definitely a way to fulfill that nerd quota. This cable has one male DisplayPort connector and one male HDMI connector, and is available at varying lengths. This is the first DisplayPort connector I've seen that has a “lock” on it, to secure it to the port, in the form of a small bit of metal that is retracted when you hold a depressable part of the plug to remove it. I don't find it incredibly necessary, but I'm glad it's there. I have attached this from my GeForce RTX 2070 Super, to my old, old Samsung F5500 series TV from way back in 2013, which I have mounted with the aid of the Pipishell mount which I have reviewed elsewhere on Amazon! When I select the appropriate HDMI port as a source and change the configuration of my computer in the correct way, my computer display shows up on the TV! And yes, the cable DOES support the HDCP protocol (High-definition Content Protection) for viewing streaming services on your TV, so you don't HAVE to rely on another device for such things, though your video card you're connecting to must also support HDCP. (mine does!) Now I'll tell you of a special utility that I found which streamlines the above-mentioned configuration. It's called Monitor Profile Switcher, and it's free, open-source. Download it from Source Forge Dot Net. Now, with this program running, set the configuration of your monitors how you wish, select in the program to “Save Profile,” name it, and even assign a hotkey. When you choose the profile from the menu, or press the assigned hotkey your monitors will configure themselves automatically according to the previously set configuration. This utility is invaluable for helping me find the true potential of this cable. I pass the results of my quick research on to you, my fellow consumers.
