Tripp Lite 750VA 450W Standby UPS - 12 NEMA 5-15R Outlets, 120V, 50/60 Hz, 5-15P Plug, ENERGY STAR, Desktop/Wall

Using this as a UPS for wifi for my wife's remote work access to internet for her camera, monitors etc. asa bridge between power loss and our standby generator kicking in (and returning to utility power).Recently had an outage and this tripped immediately, zero loss of signal and the clock plugged into it did not lose time.

We had the unit for less than two years and it worked fine until a power fluctuation one evening. I was in the room, heard the relay click and thought nothing of it. as it had happened many times before. However, the next morning the UPS was off along everything connected to the it. When powered on, it would shut back off in about five seconds. My work laptop would not revive even when connected directly to the outlet the UPS had been on. It took a couple of hours to charge the laptop battery sufficiently for it to boot - nothing like working remotely with only your phone. I left the UPS plugged in and after a while it stayed on with no load. I called Tripp-lite (Eaton) and they predicted the battery was kaput. Sure enough, if we left the unit on battery with no load, the time remaining indication declined rapidly. They told me the UPS sat on the shelf a significant period before I bought it from Amazon and sent me a new battery. They said they have a Windows app that would have indicated the battery was not holding a charge, but nothing for Linux or Mac. I feel the unit should check the battery itself to live up to its purpose.

My APC battery backup failed. I had used the APC with my QNAP NAS. That model had also been discontinued. I decided to try this updated Tripp-Lite version. I liked the smaller size and added features. Unfortunately, the QNAP's verion of Linux will not detect the Tripp-lite batter backup as a USB external device. There is a third party OS addin made for Tripp-Lites but to be honest, I did not understand the app's description well enough to determine whether it would work. The Tripp-Lite Linux application would not install on the QNAP, which requires a QPKG file format. I installed this unit with a WIN10Pro computer. It works fine with that.

So far working good, have not had a power failure
