The UPS probably does backup fine, but it's not telling the computer that it should shut down. The USB connection reports the charge% and online status when it's first connected, but you have to unplug it and replug the USB to get it to update. I pull the AC on the UPS, the computer is fat dumb and happy thinking it's running on line power. I replug the USB and suddenly the computer finds out it's gonna want to shut down in a minute. This kind of crap shouldn't happen to a 60-year-old UPS company in the 21st century. The condition of the manual suggests I'm not the first one here.

Can't complain, It is doing what it is supposed to do. Come back is a few months and ask again.

I have my TP-Link router, 8-port mini-switch, and ISP modem plugged into this. During power outages my laptop/phones stay up on wireless and the internet for about an hour which is more than enough. It also makes sure the gear doesn't power cycle during power blips. I was able to turn off the beeping on low power which made my dog happier. One thing I've noticed recently is that I need to hit the breaker button to get it to turn on again after power resumes. Maybe I always had to do it and forgot about it. I might tape a note to the side of the unit to remind people who aren't me in the house what to do. I plan on buying one more UPS to support my Unraid server (former desktop PC running an ASRock Z87E-ITX, Intel Core i5-4570S, 8 GB RAM 2x 12 TB HDD and 2x 256 GB SSD)

I was shocked how light in weight this UPS is. The USB interface works fine with Mac computers. But be Warned NAS users.... the USB interface doesn't work natively with Synology DiskStation. That was disappointing.
