Pretty annoying: the metal case on this surge protector looks, feels and sounds like plastic. The only way you know it's metal is by using a magnet. WHY? Years from now when it's just one of the surge protectors in the house, who is going to remember that this is the metal one? Do we need to test them all with a magnet? Pretty much anyone choosing this surge protector is paying the premium because they want the metal body -- would it kill them to make that a little more evident? And why bother to make a metal surge protector with a plastic bottom? Again, the only reason to pay the premium for this is the metal... does anyone feel that three sides of metal is what they want? Annoying.

This product was ordered because it meets the Arkansas State specs for surge protectors used in Assisted Living homes for seniors. Unfortunately the one I received was a 1008 model a superior product but the manufacturers specs say the let through voltage is 4000V. The specs require 3200V let through, nothing higher so even though this one is a better product I can't have it. It will be returned.

I have recently trashed all the plastic case surge protectors in my house. The problem is the internal components can get really hot and possibly melt and become a fire hazard if hit by a big enough surge. So metal case is the way to go. These Tripp Lite strips come with straight plugs which is OK but I wanted an angle plug so it could go behind furniture. So I replaced the plug with a Legrand - Pass & Seymour 4867ANWCC10 15-Amp, Commercial Grade, Heavy Duty Angle Plug, also available on Amazon. FYI, there are other brands of surge protectors that come with angle plugs, some of which cleverly rotate. From what I have read these plugs are cheap junk and can be a fire hazard.

Really wanted an all metal strip surge protector, but couldn't find any with a metal bottom (plastic bottoms could melt/catch fire in an overload). This has all metal sides & plastic bottom. Best one I could find (researched plenty of others which had questionable quality and/or inadequate features). Pros - 1. Well-known, established name brand (don't trust no-name brands with my safety). 2. Separate Lights for Protection & Grounding. 3. Resettable Circuit Breaker inside. 4. Strip Shutdown when Protection is Gone. This is important. Surge protectors of this type have a limited amount of protection capacity which is gradually whittled down by absorbing surges (this is what the Joule rating means -- the higher the joule rating, the higher the overall protection capacity is). A lot of surge strips will keep providing power, even when the protection is gone, which is dangerous. This one won't, so you'll know when to buy a new one. 5. Very Good Price for the Quality & Features. 6. Metal Sides. Cons- 1. Plastic Bottom.
