I'd give this five if the cord had stronger strain relief at each connecting end and less expensive for the material used. I wanted to love this item. It's average and not worth $55.00 Because I need to use USB hubs in my 2017 MBP I have an array of USB hubs and they all fail at one of two places within a couple of months the strain relief on either end pulls apart. I use my laptop as a portable item carry with me USB ports for my back-up and offline storage disks (music and photo, etc.) With that said sometimes, I have limited space the hub is a 90-degree bend. It can't be arranged any other way. I use a portable lap desk at home thus I have to turn the hub 90 degrees adds strain on connecting points. They all (hubs) work great, I'm not slamming any brand as such however I'd love to see thicker strain relief and or thicker insulation and if possible thick weave Gortex insulation on the wires and heavier strain guards. Tripp Lite hub is decent, it works like the others I have (and the few I tossed) insulation and wires are thin. To prolong the life of these useful items I shrinkwrap wires with thicker material and wrap the shrink wrap with electrical tape. The wire is stiffer of course but when the hub is 90 degrees less strain on the wire and lasts longer. I like this Tripp Lite hub the manner where all USB and LAN connections are on one side. I titled this cheap looking for the low-grade plastic case and thin wire. Strain relief at both connecting ends is typical of all the others thin or not long enough to alleviate strain on sharp angles. For the price, I expected higher grade material and, better construction. I won't buy a second one.

Does the job well, especially after Apple made all my peripherals obsolete with the new MacBook Pros' USB3/ Thunderbolt3 ports. Does not charge late 2016 MacBook Pro. Connect a mouse, backup drive, and ethernet in the office.
