Connects 2 DisplayPort-Enabled Devices to a Single Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse This KVM switch lets you access, control, boot and reboot two computers with DisplayPort connectors and switch between them. In addition to desktop and notebook computers, the switch also connects up to two media centers, video game systems, Blu-ray and DVD players, cable and satellite boxes, DVRs and other DisplayPort-enabled devices. Both computers share one monitor, USB keyboard and USB mouse, which saves space on your desk or workspace. Supports DisplayPort++ for Connecting an HDMI or DisplayPort Monitor The B005-DPUA2-K supports DP++, allowing incoming DisplayPort signals to be converted to HDMI. It features one DisplayPort output and one HDMI output, though only one monitor may be used at a time. Switching Between Computers Is Fast and Easy Use the front-panel push buttons, hotkey commands, mouse movement or the included IR remote control for quick and easy toggling between computers. You can also use the Auto Scan feature to scan all connected computers in five-second intervals automatically. LEDs indicate which computer is currently selected. USB Cables Are Included to Facilitate a Simple Setup Use the included USB 3.0 cables to connect your computers to the KVM switch. The plug-and-play B005-DPUA2-K requires no drivers, so you can connect and use it immediately. It works with all major operating systems, including Windows, macOS and Linux. USB Hub Lets You Share Peripherals between Computers Two USB 3.0 hub ports allow you to share USB peripherals, such as printers, hard drives, scanners, webcams and flash drives, between both connected computers. The ports support USB 3.0 data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps and are backward compatible with earlier USB generations. Transmits Crystal-Clear True 4K Video with HDR and 4:4:4 Color The B005-DPUA2-K supports Ultra HD resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 (4K x 2K) at 60 Hz, as well as HDR video, providing a wide range of vibrant colors with richer contrast, brighter whites and deeper blacks that pop on your 4K display. HDCP 2.2 compliance allows you to stream 4K Amazon and Netflix content with no complications. This KVM switch also supports 4:4:4 chroma subsampling for top-level PC gaming or using your HDTV as a PC monitor. Designed for Convenient Mounting with Included Brackets The heavy-duty metal housing comes with mounting brackets for permanent installation on a wall or beneath a desk with user-supplied hardware. The included DC power supply connects to any standard AC power source.

Perfect except for audio

I bought this KVM in January 2021 to upgrade from a previously IOGear DVI KVM, with the goal of getting higher quality video passed through on native DisplayPort. For keyboard, video and mouse, this KVM is absolutely fantastic. I can easily run 1920x1080 (highest my monitor supports) @ 144mhz over DisplayPort connections. If you aren't a fan of mouse emulation you can plug a mouse into one of the front USB ports. I don't rely on my KVM being a USB hub, so this isn't a big deal to me. As others have noted, it does not keep active video signals from non-primary inputs running. So if you use two monitor setups, it might have some screen hitchery when you switch back and forth (also not a big deal to me). This one would be nice if TrippLite could make a firmware update to fix though. The *only* bad thing I have to say about this KVM is that the audio pass-through is quite horrific. Unless you only a headset, any speakers hooked up to the OUTPUT 3.5mm jack will have an overpowering whine/hum that drowns out the audio almost completely. You can hear the audio faintly but it is very quiet behind the hum. I tried with many different powered speakers from 5.1, 3.1 and 2.0 setups. It isn't speakers or a shielded wiring issue. If you even only plug AC power into the KVM, power it on, and plug any speaker set into OUTPUT audio, the issue is present. I similarly tested running audio through a ground loop isolator adapter for 3.5mm with mixed results. That *helps* to clear the audio for the most part, but it is still quite "boomy/static-y" with bass-intensive audio. I have an open case with TrippLite about this, but I don't expect anything soon as this is likely a hardware issue internal to the KVM. The difficulty is that it is hard to find both moderately priced and moderate quality DisplayPort KVMs. There might be better quality ones by IOGear and Belkin and the like, but the prices more than double. If you don't mind the audio issues, or don't mind using a headset/adapter/separate audio switcher, I would recommend this item. If TrippLite releases any newer or fixed model with fixes for audio, I'd happily upgrade this to 5 stars. I ended up bypassing the KVM audio altogether with an inexpensive audio switcher that worked perfectly (no channel cross-talk or audio bleed that I can hear): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DNYF22N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Works Well With a Few Minor Issues

I love the compact size of this unit -- it's about half as big as my old KVM I used to switch between my old MacPro and Windows 7 PC. Those PC's required DVI connectors, and my new Windows 10 build had only HDMI or DP 1.4 ports. Luckily my MacPro also has a Mini DP port, so this unit plus an adapter is a good solution for my needs, as I now own an ultrawide 1440p monitor and can get full use of the DP 1.4 bandwidth from my RX 6800 graphics card. Switching works best just using the selector buttons on front of the unit, but you can also use the included remote if you prefer. Another switching method built into the device is to simply move the mouse cursor to either left or right side of the screen, then try to move it a little beyond there, and unit will automatically switch to the other input whether there's a PC connected, turned on, or not. I find this feature to be more annoying than helpful as it's just too easy to switch over when it's not one's intention to do so. If you are in the habit of working fast and moving your mouse cursor quickly about the screen, you'll often switch yourself over without wanting to and have to switch back before you can continue with whatever you were doing. I'm not sure there's a way to disable this switching method; at least I haven't found one yet. The other issue that came up is with the mouse port in the back. I play MS Flight Simulator using a HOTAS controller, but the mouse also is an important component for operating cockpit switches and knobs in VR mode. When going through this unit, the mouse cursor does not play nicely with VR and it basically renders mouse function unusable, at least in that sim. So I only plug the mouse into the KVM when I am working between both PC's, which is fine since I don't really do any gaming during those times, and instead use it for video editing and graphics work on 2 PC's at once. But it is a minor hassle to have to physically get up and unplug the mouse from the PC and plug it into the KVM when I wish to do editing work or whatever that requires me to have both PC's up and running. No other issues to report beyond those two, and as this was far less expensive than any other DP 1.4 KVM I was able to find, I would recommend this unit to others with the caveat emptor of these two existing flaws, minor as they may be.

Works best if all your monitors are using the same interface

Nice unit, works great , there is a small delay when switching from a computer using vga to one using dvi while the monitor detects that the input source has changed. I use a gaming mouse and that seems to work best using the shared usb port. I have a computer repair shop and so far it has worked with all computers that I have used it on. I bought a dvi-I cable and some adapters so I can use it with dvi-d, and vga. To make this work I also had to buy a dvi-i to dvi-d and Vga splitter cable to connect to my monitor.

Worth it!

By far the best KVM switch I've ever owned. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The only issue I had with is was the dual main usb inputs didn't read my specialized mouse properly, instead it showed as a HID-COMPLIANT Mouse. I fixed this by plugging it into the single console port mentioned for printers, scanners and storage. Love the keyboard shortcuts making it possible to hide the unit all together. I would recommend this device to anyone.
