I bought this to archive files off a few old hard drives. It worked great for a day, transferred 75 gigs no problem. Then it started giving me error messages and quit working. I can transfer data out of it, but not in. I replaced it with something else. I wouldn't even bother writing a bad review except I had to spend an hour on the line with Amazon just to get the return authorization, from an idiot who kept giving me command line crap to try, which didn't even apply to the computer I was using. So really a bad review for Amazon, but then the thing did quit... Now a week later, updating. I replaced the item with a nearly identical one and got the same problem. Looking into it further (which isn't my field, and not what I want to spend my days doing to rescue a cheap hard drive), I found they both used the FUSE file format, and one of the characteristics of that is to crash when dealing with a lot of files. Or something idiotic like that. So I reformatted this hard drive into a different file system, EXT4. NTFS would probably have worked too. That done, it consistently worked long enough for me to transfer all the files I needed, then it quit working again - won't mount about half the time on any computer. So I went back and re-did the partitioning and reformatted the drive. And now it works consistently. I sent back the one I'd bought to replace it, as that one bricked even quicker and was more of a struggle to work with.

This is a good quality product
