Targus USB C Hybrid/Universal Docking Station with Quad 4K, Docking Station Single 8K/Quad 4K UHD Display, USB C Laptop Docking Station 2 DisplayPort or 2 HDMI Ports/100W Power Delivery (DOCK710USZ)

I was waiting for the docking for almost a month to arrive and it did arrive today... but what a disappointment ! My configuration includes two 4k monitors and two full hd monitors, the manual comes with an explanation of how to connect the docking to enable 4 monitors with my configuration it says that you need to connect the two hd monitors to the DP and HDMI of Video Stream 1 (ALT Mode) and the two 4k monitors to Video Stream 2 (Display Link) and this is exactly what i did but apparently i manage to get 3 monitors working while the 4th monitor only duplicate monitor #3 meaning both of the HD monitors just duplicate each other and do not operate as separate monitors. I will mention that the mac screen is also working as separate one... so i've decided to try and close the mac screen hoping to be able and get 4 separate streams / monitors but as soon as you close the monitor you get only 3 monitors attached to the mac. No matter what i try with monitor configuration i.e. changes cables dp / hdmi between the monitors / changes ports on the docking... i havent been able to configure it to show 4 separate monitors and it is a huge disappointment as i was hoping to be able to setup my new environment with the 4 monitors. I will say that connecting the docking to 3 monitors i was able to connect the 4th monitor via usb-c to hdmi cable but it has to be connected directly to the mac and not to the docking station... and with this i was able to get 4 separate monitors plus the mac monitor but why pay extra and purchase a quad docking station when you only get 3 active monitors ? Several more downsides... the power button doesnt seem to function (while its connected to the mac) if you disconnect it completely from the monitor you will notice that the power led changes while you press it but while connected it doesn't do it job, on contrary while watching a youtube movie on the mac each press on the power button forward the movie in a few sec... i.e. emulating a keystone on the keyboard instead of powering down the docking. Another downside is the existence of only one usb-c port on the docking, at the front... i would have expected to have some more in a docking but that i have noticed before purchasing it. For anyone who might ask thinking its model specific the monitors i own are two dell u3223qe and two dell E2216 and i did try to connect it also to philips and acer monitors without success.

First unit (4 monitor) - out of 4 ports ONLY 2 ports worked- the left bank (DP + HDMI) failed (no screen response) Thought it was cables - new cables same result. DAY2 - Called customer service and they will snail-mail me a RMA sticker AND then AFTER I send it back…they will fix/repair and send it back to me (takes 10 business days). THE UNIT IS ONLY 2 DAYS OLD!! Ordered another on Amazon, as I was not going to wait 3 weeks for an RMA on a $400 unit. New one arrived (thank you Amazon)- 3 of the 4 ports work….(DP2 failed). Will keep ordering units until I find one that works (obviously I need this capability) Like someone before me said…IF they work, it works great ….but we are not at that point yet. Good Luck
