Not a Bad Dock, but A Few Issues

Husband bought this dock for my work computer and while I like it okay there are a few issues: 1) The cord from the dock to the computer is criminally short. I literally have to keep the dock on top of my laptop to keep it plugged in. The cord is too short to mount the dock to the wall and the wall is only about 4 inches away from the laptop. 2) It over heats tremendously. Where I keep the dock (see above) I'm a bit concerned about it damaging my laptop. I keep a pack of post-its under the dock so it doesn't do damage to my laptop. 3) Not enough dongle plug-ins. There are 2. I have a keyboard and a mouse. But I also have a camera that needs to stay plugged in and a set of earphones that need to stay plugged in. Thankfully I'm not on camera often and I don't take phone calls often. So yeah - it may not be for you if you're considering this particular docking station but don't like the above limitations/issues.

watch closely how you make your connections.

I bought 10 of these for a work project. Directions for the connections are vague. Power supply must go to the usb-c next to the pigtail. The one with the DC voltage signal, then the pigtail goes to the device. It will charge properly in this direction. It will charge momentarily if the polarity is reversed but it will burn up your power supply in a couple of days.

I had previously used one of these at work and really liked it for a USB-C because it offers the flexibility of being prepared for any situation I walk into when presenting. Whether they have the common HDMI or the old-fashioned VGA this hub has both options. It also allows power through so even though my surface only has one USB-C port I can still put power into it if I need it. When I found it on Amazon I was a little concerned that it was a knock off because on Targus' website it's priced at $99 but here it was under $25. Very happy that it was legit.

Great for the price

Works for my dell tough book but I have to use the Dell charging cable as the docking station does not provide enough power to charge the laptop. Overall, I'm really happy with the dockig station because it was so cheap and allows me to use a desktop monitor, keyboard and mouse.
