This compact transmitter uses HDBaseT™ technology to extend your HDMI® signal up to 230 feet (70 meters) over a single CAT5e or CAT6 cable, to an HDBaseT display, projector or receiver (sold separately). The transmitter supports Ultra HD and Full HD video resolutions (4K and 1080p), with support for the accompanying digital 7.1 audio. Easy and discreet installation. For a simple and tidy installation, the HDBaseT transmitter features a small footprint and a built-in HDMI cable that connects directly to your video source, reducing clutter by eliminating the need for an HDMI cable at your local source. The transmitter is powered using USB, which means you can use a USB port on your source device to power the transmitter, which is perfect for extending from areas where power outlets may be limited. Works well. No issues
Purchased several in March 2022. After extensive work finding drivers for the ASIX network interface chip this unit has, it didn’t work. We tried on both M1- and Intel-based Macbooks. We've even gone to other sites and downloaded drivers from ASIX itself. Nothing worked. The system compatibility remarks on the product landing site were patently false. Until… Fast forward to June 2022. Re-downloaded new drivers from the Star-Tec website. While release notes on the site do not include MacOS 11 (Big Sur) or MacOS 12 (Monterey), the download file does include drivers for those OS versions. We followed the many steps to install and activate the driver, and it FINALLY works. It runs pretty hot, so I hope it lasts.
Bought a new laptop and it did not have an ethernet port and this gives you that plus two high speed USB ports and an HDMI port provided that the USB C port has video capabilities, my laptop has an HDMI port so this is no big deal that I can't use the extra HDMI because my USB C port has no video capabilities. This is a basic unit and meets my needs so think about the needs you have before purchase. Note: If you purchase an USB C to USB 3.0 adapter you can use an USB 3.0 port in a pinch minus the video function.
This dock satisfied my demands on XPS 15. If the USB-C cable was longer, that will be perfect.
Ive got a 144hz 1080p display and this adaptor will not output more than 60hz. Additionally, when using this adaptor it would only allow me to manage it using Intel HD (not the discrete nVidia card) Unsure if that last part would be the cause of the issue or the adaptor itself Got a laptop, Alienware 17 r4 with thunderbolt.
