StarTech.com 8-Port USB KVM Swith with OSD - TAA Compliant - 1U Rack Mountable VGA KVM Switch (SV831DUSBU)

Issues: 1) Requires Star Tech-specific cables which weren't included. My existing KVM cables did not work. 2) My gaming mouse would not work through this KVM but did through by $60 IOGEAR KVM 3) Received BSOD when first connected one of my pc's to this KVM 4) 3 out of 4 of my PC's lost their video card settings and the resolution was extremely lowered. Spent an hour trying to reinstall the drivers but never worked.

Works well and very handy to switch between 8 different computers. Causes a shift and slight bluriness to the video feed but serves the purpose I need very well.

Right out of the box, I noticed that if I left this device plugged in overnight, the USB mouse and keyboard would stop working. I tried different keyboard and mouse combinations and different PCs, but it just seems to lose connectivity if left on. I have to disconnect each PC, disconnect the power, and plug everything back in again to get it to start working again. Unfortunately, because I didn't need this item as soon as I got it and it took me a while to diagnose that it wasn't the mouse, keyboard, PC's but the KVM, I've missed my return window so I'm stuck resetting this thing every morning. My advice is that you test this device as soon as you get it! We have three more of these and they appear to work fine on the same models of PCs so It just seems to be this one device.

I've only had this KVM for about a week but it seems to be working great. I was able to use a wireless keyboard/mouse. THREE WEEKS IN - going from 5 stars to 1 star. This is insane. Every time I plug a different computer into the KVM, the picture will display during post but as soon as Windows starts it displays "Out Of Range" on a black screen. Some computers work, others don't. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I bought this to use on a repair bench where different computers are constantly being plugged in. Unless you are using this in a situation where you can set it and forget, save your money.
