Works really well with sturdy build quality

This Startech HDMI KVM (product code: SV431HU34K6) works really well. I have HDMI and DP devices connected (via a DP2HD4K60H DisplayPort to HDMI active adapter for the DP devices), and all are working well with no compatibility issues. It replaces a similar DisplayPort model that seemed to have display compatibility issues meaning I had to use multiple inputs on the monitor, rather than go through the KVM for one device. So every time I switched to or from that devices it's 1 button press on the KVM, then multiple button presses on the fiddly monitor's buttons and menu system to switch input ports - really annoying. I plugged in this Startech HDMI KVM and everything worked first time. The built-in EDID emulation worked without me having to do anything, and switching between devices is works perfectly. I'm using a single Logitech unifying receiver in the HID USB port (can be rear or front of the KVM which is good) via a USB extension cable for my keyboard and mouse. The unit looks and feels well made with strong metal casing, and buttons that feel like they will last a long time. The power adapter comes with interchangeable heads for different countries. It doesn't come with cables, but I see that as an opportunity to choose the length cables I need, and also the quality/spec. I got some different length HDMI cables to suit each connected device. I already had USB A male to female cables from the previous KVM. I recommend this HDMI KVM.

Probably the best deal for your money

This is not my first KVM, in fact it is my 3rd switch (I also have a 2-computer DVI and a 2-computer DP switch). And it turns out that all switches are Startech. There are a few reasons why I pick Startech over other brands (and yes, I did try other brands and sent them right back). [1] Do not get a switch which requires custom, switch specific cables. If one of those cables ever goes bad, good luck finding a replacement. [2] If you are looking for a HDMI KVM like this one, make sure you get one with EDID emulation. That is vital if you want to avoid having a computer switch back to 640x480 and wreck your desktop setup (Windows likes to do that), just because it detected that the monitor is going away. EDID emulation makes the comuter think that the monitor is still there. The EDID emulation on this KVM is great, especially the "copy" mode is perfect. I am running 4 computers off a master/slave switch. As soon as one of them is powered up, the master/slave switch powers the monitor and the KVM. Computers will receive valid EDID information thanks to the copy mode even if the monitor is not done "getting ready" yet. [3] And this is also one of the important features: USB device compatibility. With Startech, I never had problems with any USB peripherals. My keyboard is a "Das Keyboard" fully mechanical performance keyboard with an extra USB controller. My mouse is a SteelSeries Rival 310. Not one of my systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS) has a problem. All systems see a "SteelSeries", not just a generic mouse. This is how it is supposed to work; go ahead, read the reviews on other products and see how many problems customers are having with peripherals like keyboards and mice with additional features. My monitor is a Philips 27" 4K business monitor. The mouse and the webcam are plugged in at the monitor. The monitor's integrated USB hub is connected to the USB input at the KVM to reduce cable clutter. And it just works! [4] This switch does not just pretend to support 3840x2160 @ 60Hz. It really does. If your screen blanks out at random intervals, make sure that you have cables which support 18GB/sec bandwidth. Regular "high speed" HDMI cables usually support only 10GB/sec and that's what causes the random screen blanking. Conclusion: yes this switch is expensive. And yes, it's worth every penny. I like it when stuff justs works without endless tinkering. Thanks Startech!

Average Joe
Expensive but does the job (HDMI 4K up to 3840x2160) finicky HID ports.

-No cables provided which makes it quite expensive. -Good image quality at 3840x2160 I took a star out for finicky HID ports(red squares on attached photo) which took all the keyboard I threw at it but none of the "feature rich" mice I tried. Fortunately those mice worked in the 2 console highspeed USB connectors (green squares on attached photo)
