Delivery and Shipping

Add some general information about your delivery and shipping policies.

The SV231TDVIUA 2-Port Triple Monitor DVI USB KVM Switch allows 2 PCs (each with 3 DVI video outputs) to share monitors, 1 microphone and set of speakers, 1 keyboard and 1 mouse, as well as an additional USB 2.0 peripheral such as an external hard drive, thumb drive, printer, or webcam. The Triple DVI KVM switch enables you to switch back and forth between 2 multi DVI PCs at the touch of a button, while maintaining professional-level video quality on all monitors at resolutions up to 1920x1200. The triple monitor DVI switch also features an integrated USB hub port which allows USB 2.0 peripherals to be shared between attached systems, eliminating duplicate peripheral costs and offering the convenience of sharing stored data between PCs. The SV231TDVIUA 2-Port Triple Head DVI KVM Switch is TAA compliant and backed by a StarTech. PLEASE NOTE: While the DVI connector on this KVM is DVI-I, the KVM only supports single-link DVI-D (digital only) video sources. It is recommended wherever possible to use DVI-D cables across all PC to KVM and KVM to console connections.

Almost but not quite

Startech makes great stuff. This device works as intended. So what's the problem? The DVI ports are so close together that you can't plug anything in beside the next column. I bought cables without screws on the heads and they still didnt fit. I was able to connect every other column, and it worked wonderfully. Sadly, that's not enough for me.

Frequently drops connected devices

This KVM drops connected devices frequently. On Zoom or Teams calls, I frequently have to redetect my camera because the hardware goes offline, and sometimes unplug it from the KVM and replug it to make it show up again. I've tried multiple webcams, none of which have problems when plugged directly in. If a console sits idle for too long with out KVM switching to it, the KVM forgets about the connected hardware and I have to power cycle everything to get the KVM to pick it up again. Everything will work great on console 1 for days, but if I switch to #2 for my second computer, which doesn't get disconnected in the meantime, none of the monitors or USB devices are connected to it anymore.

Lovely device when it's setup and working, works great

I have a 3 monitor setup, and wanted a spare output in case I needed it. 3xMonitors are 1920x1200, and it works perfectly. My keyboard is a little more advanced than "basic" keyboards, and it didn't recognise it at all. This meant it didn't pass through to the other machines. I was however able to plug it into the USB Hub part, and the computer(s) got it from there. However this does mean I can't use the keyboard shortcuts to swap machines. This isn't any great issue for me as it's right in front of me, and I just press the button. The only slightly annoying issue is that the monitor connectors are very close to each other, and that means the DVI connectors are VERY tight next to each other. If you can get ones with "thing" plastic casing, then do so, or you'll have to push down very hard to get it seated in the sockets properly. That being said, when all this is done it works great, and I'm very pleased with it. 1 star off because of how close the connectors are, and that it didn't manage to deal with my keyboard in the dedicated keyboard slot, but still excellent.

No cables included? Really, Startech?

This is the 3rd KVM switch I bought as I mistakenly bought the wrong types the first two times, thinking they would work with my setup. Both of those KVM switches, while priced similarly to this one, included all the cables I would use for the setup. This switch, on the other hand, came with NO cables! Seriously, Startech, not even the USB A to USB B cables to hook the switch up to the computers? Shame on you for saving the $2 each of those cables would have cost you on a $300 device! This switch should come with the 2 USB cables I mentioned, 2 sets of mic and speaker hookups (for the 2 computers audio & mic to KVM switch hookup) and at least 3 DVI cables for the KVM switch to monitor connections (my other 2 switches both included all these plus an extra set of 3 cables for the monitors). Aside from this, everything seems to work, more or less. I had trouble fitting all the DVI cables into the switch because they are placed VERY close together side by side. I had to switch out one of my cables because the connector was too wide and blocked the adjacent connector from fitting it. Other than that, it seems to work as it should. Only problem is when the active computers does to sleep, one of the monitors seems to flicker. I'm not sure if this is due to the KVM switch or to the connection from the computer to the switch as this connection is over USB via a USB->DVI adapter. The hot keys seem to work nicely to switch between computers. Oh yes, one more thing - no manual included, not even a quick setup guide. Just a note on where to download it, and even that note doesn't include the model number so you have to go back to the box it came in to look up the model number in order to find the manual. Nice touch Startech!
