Failed after a little over a year, no customer support

I purchased this a little over a year ago. It failed shortly after we got a MacBook Pro M3. Other adapters work fine. The vendor does not answer the phone or respond to email. If you chose this product do not expect any warranty on it. The warranty claims appear to be false.

Best option for Macbook M1 with native DisplayPort limitations!

I was concerned when my work wanted to give me a Apple Macbook Pro M1 13" that I wouldn't be able to support multiple monitors. It has two Thunderbolt 3 ports and only supports the built-in and a single external display. I was used to three monitors. I ended up using this Sonnet DisplayLink option to hook up two 2560x1440 displays (1440p) in addition to a regular USB-C to DisplayPort adapter for a 3440x1440 ultrawide. I also used a CalDigit hub to get around the limit port numbers for my USB/charging needs. In summary I was able to use the following displays AT THE SAME TIME on a Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020): - 2560x1600 @ ??Hz (Built-in Retina LCD) - 3440x1440 @ 144Hz (USB-C to DisplayPort adapter) - 2560x1440 @ 144Hz (This Sonnet DisplayLink product, one of the two ports) - 2560x1440 @ 60Hz (This Sonnet DisplayLink product, one of the two ports) Tips: - It doesn't look like this supports two 2560x1440 @ 144Hz, but you can choose some combination that adds up to about 200Hz. Not sure if this is a limitation of this unit, or the Thunderbolt 3 port I have connected it to, either way, except that limitation for at least the M1 2020. - DisplayPort cables and protocols matter. If you're having a hard time getting the right refresh rates, resolutions, or color modes, just order good VESA-certified cables. I had good luck with the KabelDirekt DP 1.4 cables. - You can only rotate DisplayLink-connected displays with an up-to-date DisplayLink Manager tool. Rotation won't be an option in Mac System Preferences.

This thing works

When I looked at docking stations to enable dual display with 13" MacBook Pro with M1 it came down to two or three options with msrp above $350. When I saw Sonnet for more than half of the price, I had to try it. My current setup is a usb dock with usb-c plugged in, the Sonnet display is then plugged into the usb dock, other thing plugged in include: external camera, wireless keyboard and mouse. The MacBook remains closed and I only use with two monitors. I had to purchase DVI to display port cables and install DisplayLink app. I would highly recommend it. Update: One issue I have run into that is happen frequently with my setup, I experiences disconnects. I am unsure if it's the Sonnet or my USB dock or the DisplayLink driver. Whenever the disconnect happens, I might be on a call, it disconnects everything, display and anything else connected. More update on this as I do a root cause analysis.
