Functional USB docking station with smokin' fast data transfer speeds

If you're someone who travels extensively and works on the road you're never going to have enough USB and other ports on your laptop. That's just a fact of life. I've got the latest model of a high end, brand name laptop manufacturer. From a performance standpoint, it's a beast. It has a whopping *3* USB ports--all USB-C. The power cord occupies one of them, so that gives us only two. If you use an external mouse, there goes one more. That's my situation--I basically have one USB-C port for anything else I need to attach. This doesn't even consider the need for USB-A ports. Since I travel/work at least half of the year, that won't get it done. Another important realization about docking hubs: just adding a few more ports via a USB hub isn't enough. For starters, you need a powered USB hub if you're going to be doing anything serious. I'll sometimes be in a city for a month or two and in that case I want to attach a monitor or two. I'll be using my laptop as a 'desktop replacement' during my extended stay and that requires different options than just taking it down to the local coffee shop to do some work. There's also the need to be prepared for as many situations as possible and that requires more connection options of a wider variety. This means that a USB C docking hub is a 'must have' for any remote worker. I've gone through a number of these devices and until recently I've been really obsessed with form factor and size. Obviously, I want the smallest, sleekest and lightest possible device that will do the job I need it to do. I've learned something about USB C docking hubs in recent months--There's no 'one size fits all' criteria that you can apply to devices of this type. Like many people, I frequently use my laptop when I'm *not* traveling. When I have laptop work to do at the office--and form factor isn't an issue--I want the biggest, burliest, most substantial and multi-functional USB docking hub made. What's more, I learned that not everyone has the same needs from a USB hub that I do. Some people need to power multiple displays, for example, whereas I don't in most situations. Some people need faster data transfer, SD card adapters, etc. I learned the valuable lesson that the world is full of many different people with different needs. That's why there's so many different size, shapes, brands and functionalities in the USB docking hub world. And maybe, just maybe, I learned a little bit about myself. The SIIG USB bocking station 11 in 1 dual display USB C docking station is a good balance between form and functionality. It's not the sleekest device on the market, but it's small enough and very light. It weighs in under a pound. For the size and weight, it packs a pretty heavy punch with speedy USB data transfer, speedy network data transfer, two HDMI ports, a SD card port, a USB c charging port, 2 USB 3.0 standard ports (for USB-A connections), three USB C ports, a 3.5mm auxiliary jack and even a Gigabit Ethernet port. Overall, a good balance between portability and power. Given the performance and versatility it provides, it's a pretty decent value at the price point. Highly recommended!

Works GREAT!!!

I just got a job 2 months ago that I get to work from home 2days a week after 90days so started setting up my temporary home office (on husbands gaming desk till I get my own desk and monitors) I’m not very smart when comes to technology, so did a lot of researching on how to connect! I got a display port cable for one monitor and used an HDMI cable for the other. I haven’t tried to hook up a 3rd monitor yet. only 2 so far but was so excited I got to work. It was way easy! What’s in the box: Docking station, power cord for the docking station as well as a USB-C (to connect your laptop!) and instructions all in a nice magnetic lid box! Love that charges your laptop while you work! Also nice that has micro SD and SD ports and USB as well as a headphone jack! Wish I would have taken pics while all hooked up but just wanted to make sure I’m ready in September when I get to work from home. For anyone that is not as tech savvy like me all you need is your laptop (with USB-C port to connect (with provided USB-C cord) to docking station. Also need 2 HDMI cords or 1 HDMI and 1 display port cable to connect monitors to docking station and done!! It’s that easy!! I think I made hard on myself!
