This is one big boy. The machine does its job perfectly and without any issues or hassles. It runs very quietly during my testing, although it did ramp up a bit from time to time. The noise was generated when the purifier goes full power as some smoke from the forest fires going on the opposite side of the country reached the house. The purifier does provide 3 colors which help figure out the quality of the air in a glance without going to check the unit closely. I only got the unit recently, so the filter’s duration will be the thing to keep an eye one. They claim up to 5 years, we will see how it fares with time. I am not a big fan of the name “NeverChange” as it could be seen as misleading. So far, my impression is excellent.

The Shark NeverChange Whole Home Air Purifier is pretty quiet when in its usual mode. On “auto”, it shows me that my clean air is 100%. I do have it at the far end of a large kitchen and have found that whenever we’re cooking on the gas stove (and when I dripped some cheese on the element of the toaster oven), that it went into overdrive. It detected that the air quality had gone down, at one point I had just 11% clean air, that was surprising! I heard it power up in strength (fan on and audibly working) and it went to work I find the colour visuals of the ring around the air quality readout to be very helpful. At a glance across the room, I can see (and hear) that there is a problem. I have a ton of allergies, both environmental and seasonal, and have always heard that these air purifiers are good. I also have a couple of problems with my lungs therefore good air is important. The idea of always changing filters put me off, so this one makes me happy. It’s a little big, but it’s doing important work. I highly recommend it.

New neighbours recently moved in next door, and they like to smoke, and not necessariliy cigarettes. We have a shared wall. Unfortunately, the smoke and odour seep into the house. We had an old air purifier, but it's so old that we can't easily find replacement filters for it. So it was great to come across this Shark Neverchange Whole Home air purifier. The first reaction though was the size - it's way bigger than our old air purifier. In fact, there is no discreet place to put it. But really, that's the only downside. This is an impressively effective machine. And having an air quality indicator on the machine is super interesting. Normally, if the neighbours are not smoking up, the air quality in my house is not too bad. It's very interesting to see the change in air quality if their smoke finds its way into the air of our home. I also like to burn scented candles at home, but this machine is causing me to re-think my habit of doing so. I had no idea burning candles affected air quality this much. Eek! Importantly, it's not too noisy when on low speed. But when it is on max, I find it quite noisy. Because of this, and because our main floor and basement gets the most smell of "smoke" from the neighbours, this machine is staying on the main floor, near the stairs to the basement on auto mode. Despite its size, it's actually quite light to move around. It's running periodically to counter the neighbours' smoke, and also to manage any changes in air quality from cooking, or even simply opening the patio doors to step out into the garage. Haven't tried the odour neutralizer yet. Even without it, you can smell the difference when the machine is on vs off, especially if the neighbours are smoking. As it is so new, there is nothing on the filter after a couple of days. I know it says it's not necessary to change the filter, but I'm so curious about this that I'll probably keep checking!
