I purchased this to make Time Machine backups in my home office. I have been using a Lacie D2 but moved it to my work office. I am very satisfied with the build quality, ease of set up and speed. The G Drive came reformatted for Mac so it took less than 5 minutes from opening the box to configuration for Time Machine and making my first backup. However, where the Lacie D2 was dead silent the G Drive is quite noisy with noticeable spin up, rotation and clicks / etc.

I own 3 of these drives and use them on my Mac Studios. They are relatively fast traditional drives that have been solid performers. I usually perform photo processing on the internal SSD and move the files to my 8 TB files. I do like and recommend them.

Have had drive for barely 3 months and it has completely failed. Unrecoverable, unable to mount, no recovery software able to restore. The company (Western) will not attempt to recover either. Now have to go through hassles of sending in for 'repair or replacement'. Good thing I always back everything up.
