Samsung FIT Plus USB 3.1 Flash Drive, 128GB - MUF-128AB/AM

This is the second memory I have purchased. Its size and excellent read/write speed make it ideal for use as an external drive. My laptop does not have the possibility of expanding the storage capacity, so I bought this high-speed memory with the idea of using it as a hard drive and installing Linux on it and using it with dual boot together with the operating system installed on the internal SSD disk of my laptop. On the first memory I bought, I installed Linux Mint as if it were a normal hard drive, the installer recognized the USB memory as a hard drive and the installation process was transparent. In the recently purchased memory drive I installed Windows, I carried out the installation process using Rufus, selecting the "Windows To Go" option because the Windows installer does not recognize this memory as a hard drive, however, with rufus it is possible to perform the installation and have the operating system installed on this memory working optimally! I ran a speed test from the Windows that I installed on the USB memory and the read and write speeds are quite good considering that it is not the purpose for which this memory was designed. I leave images of both the Windows and Linux operating systems running from these memories in case anyone else plans to use it as a hard drive to install a dual boot operating system on their laptop.

Lots of storage for the price, and the drive is also pretty fast.

If you need small flash drives with decent transfer speeds, these drives fit the bill. They're solidly built, and compact. I originally purchased the 128GB variant of these by mistake, but I did benchmark one before correcting the ordering mistake and getting these 256GB versions I meant to buy. It's key to know that with flash drives (including SSDs) you'll nearly always get faster transfer speeds out of larger drives. The details for the drives are a bit mixed, they say they're USB 3.1 on the packaging, but the copy/specs here on Amazon may say 3.0 or 3.1. They also give different speed indications, sometimes using read, sometimes using write. These drives report to the system as USB 3.1. I checked using a tool called USB Device Tree Viewer. Under the Summary heading they list as "USB Version: 3.1 Gen 1." For benchmarking, I used a program called ATTO Disk Benchmark (4.01.0f1). For the details folks, I left the I/O Size at 512B to 64MB, the File Size at 256MB, and Direct I/O was checked. Queue Depth was set to 8 (I also tested at a queue depth of 32 and it actually showed worse performance in the last few legs of the benchmark). Both the 128 and 256GB drives do poorly at the lowest write sizes, they start to hit their strides at 64KB and above. The 128GB drive maxed out its write speed at about 62MB/s at best, but averaged in the high 50's. Read speed hit the wall at ~370MB/s, but averaged in the mid-high 350's, so pretty close to the advertised 400MB/s. The 256GB drive managed to hit write speeds of 113MB/s at the end of the test writing 48MB and 64MB chunks. The vast majority of the write speed broke 100MB/s at the 64KB leg and stayed in the 110MB/s range once it hit 512KB writes. Read speeds were essentially unchanged from the 128GB, though the 32MB leg actually hit 380MB/s but than at the 48/64MB legs it lost about 95MB/s on transfer speed, finishing out at 284 and 285MB/s respectively. For the average person, this is unlikely to matter in the scheme of things, and is plenty fast for quick transfer of files. Ultimately, I think these are excellent drives at the current sale prices, and even at the shown "typical" price of $24.99, this 256GB is still a great deal.

The usb has a small footprint and my Samsung tv accepted it immediately with no problems. The speed test for recording was excellent and recorded programmes replayed extremely well. If looking for a usb at a reasonable price then you would not go wrong with this one.
