Royal Classic Manual Typewriter - Mint 79101T

Bought this typewriter as a gift for my mom, who wanted it to play around with or write the occasional letter on to a friend. Not only was it defective, but the process of trying to return it and/or get a rebate has been absolutely miserable. Terrible communications, confusing requests and still no result. Go find a rehabbed one at a local place -this one is a disaster!

Pretty green typewriter, types like an old manual one, just the ink rolls that came with it are completely dry. So no luck being able to type! Even the extra rolls I bought are dry so not sure if this is better than the HP laptop that crashes every time you do an update. Going to try WD 40 and see if that really works to revive the ink. Makes me not that happy with this $200.00 + purchase. Royal is an American company, why are these made in China? Guess back to paper and pencil.

I cannot, no matter how hard I type, read what I have typed, the ink is too light, I changed it to the second cartridge and am getting the same results, I like the typewriter, but I need better in cartridges

It came with a dry ribbon and a dry replacement ribbon. They did not respond to my complaint, and the short (one month) window for return had passed before I thought about it. I regret buying this. Also, I had forgotten what hard work a manual typewriter can be to type on!

Let’s face it, if you’re buying this it’s for the color and simplicity so you can’t go wrong with this. Very cute. However, for functionality stick with an electric typewriter or computer.
