Works well to pair plantronics headsets with Shoretel phones. Our office uses the RD-1 to pair Plantronics CS500 and CS540 with Shoretel IP480 and IP 485g.

I guess you need this if you walk away from your phone. The sticky part of this tape to secure this to the physical phone is less than desired. Other than that, IMO as cheap as this device is you'd think that Plantronics would include this with their higher end products. If I have one that breaks I'd LOVE to know what's inside of that HUGE box with the wires connected to it.

I've purchased multiple of these RD-1 pod detectors in an effort to eliminate the old school manual lifers which always seem to come unattached to the handset after sometime. I've been using these on Shoretel IP230 model phones that feature the additional headset jack, without a problem. Just some words of wisdom with the wireless headset and the ShoreTel phones, in the options on the handset itself making sure you set the: Auto Off Hook to Wireless Headset

Works like it is suppose to. You have to be careful not to move the phone unit around too much though because the adhesive on the end that sticks to the speaker does not stay on very well. It loses its' adhesive quickly. I fixed mine with cutting out a tiny piece a double sided velcro and stuck one end to the speaker and one to the detector. Works like a charm.
