Qnap TS-832PX-4G SAN/NAS Storage System TS832PX4GU

I like My Qnap NAS as i use it for Video Backup I have over 1200 Movies on DVD and Bluray. I Have 5 kids that like to take the DVD and Bluray and think that they are racecars and mess my disk up so i have the NAS to Back my disk up. I use it for photo backups. For me this has Changed alot for me. Thanks Qnap.

Pros - the speed increase, the memory capability, being able to use larger than 5Tb (Raid 5) hard drives (the best part). Cons - the new trays are plastic...."fragile" plastic. YIKES! The old ones were a metal tray with screws that held the drive in place. - Twonky has been removed as a DLNA media server installed in the QNAP software. That's a huge CON for me. I won't be buying QNAP products again. The others are just resource demanding junk compared to the simplicity of Twonky DLNA Server. Future Worries - Time will tell before I find out if I have huge problems with these new trays. Setup Tips - To avoid the installation of QNAPs apps, I cut it off from the internet (WAN) before setup using my router tools. I manually downloaded the new firmware. QNAP has a bad habit of making their auto install apps non-removable. There is no reason this QNAP ever needs to touch the internet, I just use it for self storage. QNAP is so concerned about Malware attacks they have a new (CPU hogging) auto install non-removable App just for that. - No internet, no Malware, problem solved.

I have a lot of photos to store, and my IT buddy told me that this was the way to go. I can add drives as I need them and keep backups of all my photos. It’s great! It is however, pretty complicit set up. I had to have my IT buddy come help me with it, and it even took him several hours to get it set right. It’s actually not 100% yet, but I can see that it’s going to be really helpful and easy to access locally or online when I’m in my office. Just plan to struggle a bit with the setup. If it were easier to set up, I would give it 5 stars.
