Couldn’t get the 10 Gb/s speed

After updating MTU on the pc and on the switch to 9000, still couldn’t get 10 Gb/s speed, so stuck with my 2.5Gb ethernet

It does the job with my Macbook Air M1

I got the sfp+ version as it can give me more flexibility to choose different transceiver modules. I've tried DAC, FIber LC, and 10gbe, they all performed very well and stable. I got 700MB/s write and 1gb/s read. The device does generate heat, but it is in acceptable level. One thing I want to point out is the device does work with 2.5gb port with RJ45 transceiver. I got a stable 2.5gb connection. I think it is totally depends on the transceiver compatibility where the device is capable to run 10gb max connection.

I recommend the SFP+ version with DAC (or possibly fiber) due to running very hot with 10G Base-T.

I bought the fanless SFP+ system. I was getting 6.4Gbps file transfers without jumbo frames and 9.0Gbps with an MTU of 9k while copying a 2.9GB file from my NAS to by HP Eliitebook 850 G8 laptop just as a quick test. This is not the intended system and I will do actual testing with iPerf when I get it implemented but getting 9.0Gbps with a simple file transfer does not leave much room for improvement. Runs hot! My actual deployment will be DAC and should not have any issues. I noticed it makes a 10Gb-Base-T transceiver run very hot--enough to burn a finger if you hold it for 10 seconds. It might shorten the transceiver life. None of my other switches do this--they get warm but not hot. I would use it only with DAC (or possibly fiber). Update: I've been running this with a DAC cable for some find and it runs quite cool.

Nice and fast 10GbE ethernet adapter for Thunderbolt machines

Got the SFP+ version of the adapter (QNA-T310G1S). This was a pre-loved (used) unit that really looked like new. I’m working from a Windows 11 machine connected to a Netgear MS510TX switch via 10GbE SFP+ twinaxial direct attach cable. After I plugging the adapter, windows 11 recognized it right away and installed its driver. The next step was to download and upgrade the device to its latest Marvell firmware. The upgraded completed very quickly. Now it's running 3.1.121 firmware. After a final reboot, I was back on business. Note that the Windows PC already Thunderbolt enables, had latest thunderbolt firmware and drivers. I have several VirtualBox Virtual Machines hosted in a Synologic NAS. So I wanted to increase the connection speed to the NAS. To test my setup, I started a VM running Lubuntu 22.04 LTS and started a job to build Linux Kernel 6.1.4 with some custom teaks. The process started and ended quicker than before. The network connection was stable and fast. I’m happy with the purchase.

Great performance but very noisy - Très performant mais bruyant

The media could not be loaded. Read Write 990Mb/s - 1100Mb/s Plug and play *** Fan noise is way too much compare to any Mac computers *** Listen to my video The noise is only from the QNAP QNA-T310G1T Thunderbolt 3 to 10GbE Adaptor. Mac mini Silicon is dead silent.
