Philips HUE ECONIC White and Colour

I purchased this as a replacement for a solar light that had gone out on the side of the house. I had the parts to repair the solar light (although a painful, tedious process) so I opted to go with a Hue to upgrade instead. Long story short, I ended up just repairing the solar light after battling with the install on this for about 2 hours. It should have taken no more than 30 minutes. So what happened? First, no extra hardware for wiring a light comes with this. There are no extra wire nuts, no extra screws, nothing. The instructions in the small manual are ok but not great. However, installing a light is pretty straightforward and this wasn't our first rodeo doing this. The real kicker was the way the bracket for the light had to sit in the mount on our wall. In order to mount part of the bracket (the one that connects the mount to the wall), you couldn't actually put the 2nd set of screws in because they would hit it (the second bracket where you mount the light to the bracket on the wall). The box in the wall would not rotate so our only option was to rotate the bracket which meant the light would be crooked. We tried every possible configuration to get it to work and finally we got it to mostly be ok. But wait, there's more.... As if that wasn't frustrating enough, we got the second bracket and set of screws ready to mount the actual light fixture. Thinking we were about done, we discovered the provided screws were too short to properly affix the wall mount to the light fixture. There was no way to actually secure the light with the final set of screws because there wasn't enough space to affix the covers. We tried using the screws from the old light and also some others we had around the house with no luck. Loosening the screws a tiny bit to give a little more length just left the light super loose on the wall (not great). Running to the hardware store was not an option given we were running out of light and had to leave for a trip early the next day...and this was about 2+ hours in and my patience was running pretty low. The fact that Phillips didn't include extra screws to save the hassle on a premium product is just plain dumb. I could overlook not including the wire nuts but that's also just stupid and cheap. The light itself is high quality but holy cow this was painful and completely different from other Hue installations I've had to do. I can't believe a premium product like this doesn't try to have a more universal installation process.

These lights are amazing I am having so much fun with my lights. I've reviewed some negative post I strongly disagree with some of the comments. I don't believe they were intended to be used as a flood light or for massive lighting. These lights are decorative to highlight your home and to create ambiance. So have fun with them and enjoy.

While it does require the Philips Hue Bridge to take full advantage, it's worth it. I use the bridge to connect to Apple HomeKit and automate. Seems very high quality and one of the easier exterior wall lights I've installed. Has great range of color and warm to cool white.

The light was a bit tricky to install. Some of the screws they provide are the bare minimum length If you are replacing an existing light that is not perfectly flat the screws you connect to were barely long enough to fit and attach the nut. A shame they are disposable since after the light falls you can't replace the light source (there is no replaceable "bulb"). Be careful with the instructions; not exactly correct with the parts provided and may not perfectly match your existing junction box. Definitely need 2 people to install (awkward and heavy). Also be careful when ordering since there are two models, one that faces up and one that faces down. Once installed worked well and looks great.
