it makes everything more role-playing, but it was the only way I found to put Straps on my son's iPad with the Defender Case.

Interesting accessory. It's lightweight and fits onto my 10.1" off-brand tablet.

Reviewing: "OtterBox Utility Latch Series 7" Black W/Out Accessory Bag (Non-Retail/Ships in Polybag)" I can't really say that this is, or isn't, what I thought it was when I ordered it - because to be frank, when I ordered it, I wasn't fully sure what it was. I haven't ever used anything like this before, but it looked interesting and possibly useful. I'm sure it has its good uses in some cases, but for my particular tablet needs, not so much. It did fit my 10.1" off-brand tablet. But to clarify, I don't have any kind of rubber case on the tablet to contend with. The buttons and ports on this tablet seem to clear where the straps hook onto the corners. I can see how it might cause an incompatibility issue with some other tablets, though. The way this accessory works is that you hook each of the 4 rubber straps over the corners of the tablet. Then you slip either your hand, or a few fingers, through the strap on the back. It's supposed to help keep your tablet secure from falling. BTW, you can also rotate the orientation from portrait to landscape and vice versa. The corner fastening straps seem to be very secure, so I would say that the tablet isn't likely to come out. All that said, I'm still not entirely sure how useful this is in many scenarios. When I ordered this, I was thinking it had a kickstand in it (probably got confused by looking at another accessory that was similar). And if it had a kickstand, it would be very useful to me. But, I'm not sure what kind of apps one would use on a tablet that require only one hand, while the other hand is tucked into a strap on the back - except for perhaps using the tablet to draw with, or to take notes, or orders (for instance, in a restaurant). For those uses, I can definitely see the appeal of this. For my general home tablet use, I prefer to have both hands unfettered and holding onto the tablet with both thumbs free. It is well-made, as are most (if not all) Otter Box products, but I think it would have been more useful for me if there were some type of kickstand built into it. For that reason, I doubt I will continue using it. I'm glad I could try it out, though

Does not work with some cases, blocks volume on iPad Air

I wasn't confident this would work when I ordered it, but decided to chance that it would fit my iPad Air. Well it sort of does, but won't work with the case I have for it, and even if I used it bare (which I never would), one connector strap covers the upper (raise volume) push button--an unacceptable situation. So, from my perspective, it's an absolute "no go" with respect to the iPad Air, the only platform for me to test it on. That said, I am able to make some general comments. 1. The material which makes up the backing and the straps is a very "grippy" rubber-like substance. It is soft at first touch, but then you realize it readily picks up any loose items it comes in contact with--i.e., soil, sand, table salt, lint, etc. Even if this unit fit well, I would not use this unit for fear that unseen grit would adhere to the backing, would remain sandwiched between it and the electronic device (e.g., iPad) and would eventually cause scratches to areas where they mate. 2. Trying it for just a short while, I find that I am unable to do any useful work when my hand is in the strap, and am just not comfortable having one hand taken out of action. Sure you can remove your hand, but the action of taking it on and off probably puts the device at more risk than just holding it without the strap. 3. Again, in the short while I was using this unit, I found the hand strap rather tight for my medium size mens hands. I just don't find the ischemia an acceptable trade off for security of grip. 4. I'm more than a little irritated with the way the Warranty information is presented. This is not going to become a Rosetta Stone for future generations--there's no need to supply 47 languages (just kidding, its probably only a couple dozen), though it's irrelevant anyway because they are using gray 2 point type set against a slightly lighter background. Even in bright light and with my most powerful set of reading glasses, I find it fatiguing to attempt to read the information. This is so unecessary and disresptful to the consumer. In the end, since I am not going to be using this, I'm taking off only one star for the scratch problem and the absurd statement of warranty. Frankly, if I were to be using this device more, I suspect my ranking would go down, rather than up. So, for now, 4 stars.

Great if you'd like a clutch on your mini tablet 7"-8.5"

I wasnt't sure whether I was going to really use this. You never know with items like this until you try them out. This comes without instructions-- just the usual legal disclaimers in all the languages of the UN. BUT you really don't need to be a physics or electronics genius to install it-- just strap the four rubber corner grabbers onto the corresponding corners of your tablet. I tried it with an iPad Mini, Huawei M5 8.4" and a Lenovo. For fun, I also tried it on an open Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. In all cases, it was easy to do and was secure. (But obviously you won't want to fold the Z Fold 3 while the clutch is strapped on!) The hand strap is attached to a base that revolves 360 degrees-- and once you pick your desired angle it stays in place. On the iPad Mini the strap covers the power button on the upper right corner. Thankfully one won't need access to that button most of the time. By the way, this product can be secured over the back of the book-fold type cases on my tables. If folding the front flap of the case over the back doesn't trigger the auto-power off function this can work nicely. I gave it all five stars for value, construction and it's specialized functionality. Now I'm trying to think of all the ways I might exploit this product beyond the obvious. Waving hello to passing cars while my tablet stays secured on my palm? Answering the phone with my left hand while viewing merchandise details on my right hand? The possibilities are yours to discover.
