Rashoxmon here, thrilled to share an excellent review for the ASUS ROG Strix Flare II Animate RGB Gaming Keyboard. An aesthetic masterpiece that goes beyond expectations. This keyboard is a sight to behold – its stunning design and vibrant RGB lighting create a visual symphony that never ceases to amaze. Typing feels like an art form, with crisp keys that respond to every touch, while the ergonomic wrist pad adds a touch of comfort to the experience. But that's not all – the added features elevate it even further. The volume wheel and LED matrix, complete with preset patterns, redefine convenience and style. Comparing it to my previous Razor keyboard, the ASUS ROG Strix Flare II takes the crown as the best – a true embodiment of quality and innovation.

I've been using a Logitech G910 for the past 7 years. For me, it worked well for gaming and financial modeling. Their "proprietary" but basically Cherry MX Brown key switches were perfect for me: quiet, tactile, perfect actuation point. The G910 just started crapping out on me recently so I decided to order the newest wired, +TK, top of the line Logitech keyboard (which, at the time of this writing, would be the G815). Holy hell was I disappointed with the build quality. The only thing that KB has going for it is the aluminum chassis. To me, the switches and keycaps are a huge downgrade from what Logitech put into the G910, and effectively demonstrates to me that Logitech G is no longer a viable brand for me when it comes to Keyboards (Mice, Headphones... I suppose we'll see, when my G502 and G533 die, whether their successors have followed the same path). Onto the Asus ROG Strix Flare II... (god what a terrible name, BUT it does 2 things for me: I know Asus ROG, I know Strix, they're selling me on the branding of a premium components/accessories series, built to be gorgeous and high performance) The Asus ROG Strix Flare II (henceforth known as the Flare 2: electric boogaloo) has the sleek look of Asus ROG's premium Strix line. The chassis is also aluminum with a hazy bluish purpleish gunmetal matte finish with the simple words: "REPUBLIC OF GAMERS" written on the top. No mention of Asus. No mention of Strix. No Flare II. No Electric Boogaloo. This is one of the cleanest looking, most sleek keyboards I have ever seen. It's got a toggle up down switch (probably for media control) right next to the volume wheel and two simple buttons (one is a windows lock button (??), and the other is a lighting control button). Finally, design-wise, the little LED grid in the top right corner of the keyboard is SO cool. I haven't explored Asus Aura fully yet, but I have synced the keyboard up with my Asus LED hard mousepad, and the rest of my asus components in my tower. The keyboard comes with a magnetically detachable wrist rest that rivals some of the more premium memory foam wrist rests you typically see at a computer supply store. The cool part is there's a light diffuser built into the keyboard that allows you to see the LED color changes while the wrist rest is detached. What's even cooler is that when you attach the wrist rest, you gently pull the light diffuser out first, STORE IT in the back of the wrist rest (magnetically falls into its place), and then the wrist rest snaps into place onto the keyboard and the LEDs shine all the way through to the light diffuser built right into the wrist rest. While still on the topic of this rest: it has what feels like some kind of pleather outer layer which worries me regarding long term use. I also worried that my sweat-inducing work/gaming will leave some kind of residue or discoloration from skin oils... however, after three days of 12+ hour days (working and gaming), everything still appears as if it came out of the box. No oily discoloration anywhere on the keyboard, wrist rest, or the aluminum body. Finally, the key placement, actuation, and feel of the wrist caps brings me back to the IBM buckling spring days. If you know what I'm talking about, you'll understand what kind of satisfying feeling it is, beginning the key depression, feeling the tension slightly build up, and then snap when the actuation occurs. Maybe I've been using Logitech's "proprietary" key switches for too long and it turns out they were actually garbage, but I feel like my WPM/APM has significantly increased. I'll update this review periodically, but for now... damn. I'll never question Asus products ever again, they will always have a spot amongst the brands that compete for my purchases.
