I was using this to have dual monitors with my MacBooks pro. Downloaded the display manager and everything worked ok but it kept freezing.

This dock claims to push dual displays via “display link”, though it fails to mention broadly that you need to download a driver to make that happen. That is annoying, but fine. The bigger problem is that this driver requires screen recording permissions to be able to detect displays for some reason. I cannot get it to detect either hdmi or DisplayPort displays with it turned off, and there’s no way I’m enabling screen recording for a random driver I downloaded from the internet. Finally, the product name says it’s a thunderbolt dock, but that just a plain lie. It’s strictly usb c, and thunderbolt happens to be compatible with usb c, but this is not a thunderbolt dock. Absolutely disappointed with Kensington on this one. I have a couple of their iPad products and they’ve been great.

Laptop used to connect the following three docking stations is DELL Latitude 5400. Kensington SD4780P USB-C and Thunderbolt 3/4 Docking Station for Windows, MacBooks, Surface and Chromebooks – Dual 4K Video, 100W PD (K33620NA) ~$100; after disappointments with the other two DELL docking station, WD19 and WD15, without ability to deliver dual display at resolution FHD and above with common ports, I ordered this one which is the similar docking station deployed by my employer. It works instantly. I was able to display one 4K and one FHD easily, then I succeeded displayed two 4K, play-and-play. It is also so inexpensive. I would give it a 6-star if I could! Dell WD19 130W Docking Station (with 90W Power Delivery) USB-C, HDMI, Dual DisplayPort, Black (Renewed) ~$100; successfully display one 4K but that is, ONLY one display; the second display through either HDMI or DP both plagued with very strong flickering, rendering the second display essentially non-existing. It is totally fair to expect a docking station at this price to deliver dual-display, and it failed. I thus give it 2-star. Dell WD15 (Renewed) ~$50; successfully display one 4K and one FHD but with limitation. The second display could only be delivered through VGA port, NOT HDMI nor DP. Taking account of its very low price and ability to work around the Two-display set up, I give it 3-star. Final thoughts: the key for Kensington SD4780P’s excellent performance is its high power output, with 100W PD out of total 170W available to drive the laptop through USB-C. I speculate if I power the Dell Laptop with barrel AC adapter concurrently with docking station’s USB-C plugged in, the WD 15 or WD 19 might be able to function as expected.

We use this dock with a few Dell systems including the Latitude 5591, Latitude 5520 and Precision 3551. It supports two screens natively but we also purchase the Kensington USB to HDMI adapter to add a third screen. We connect the HDMI/USB adapter directly to one of the USB ports on the dock and it works perfectly fine; though note that this is not a recommended scenario by their support team. We're using office applications like Excel, and video calling like Microsoft Teams and this equipment handles it perfectly whether it's in USB-C mode or in the optional USB-A mode offered by the adapter on the docking cable. I have significant bias to Kensington because their docks are reliable and easy to setup for use. Our company has been through dozens of similar Kensington docks including the SD4700P and SD4750P and this one works just as well but is the newer higher spec'd one. We've purchased about fifteen of this one in particular. The main difference is that this one, the SD4780P, can deliver more charge to the laptop while it's in use. This one delivers 100w PowerDelivery which was a lot more necessary for the power requirements of our Precision models. (As opposed to the other older models which deliver something like 65 to 80 watts.) Note that some of our laptops have turned out to be finicky and showed issues when using the USB-C docking port. This leads to things like strange Windows messages about charging speed, USB devices malfunctioning, or flashing screens. In almost every case, it's been due to a USB-C malfunction on our brand new Dell Latitudes. They're covered under warranty so Dell comes out to replace the motherboards and then everything works just like it should. If you find similar problems your USB-C port may have an issue. In a few cases the dock itself has been at fault but Kensington customer support has always been very responsive and make it right. This dock may not cut it if you need to use the bleeding edge high-spec features in expensive monitors for graphic-intense scenarios. If that's what you need I seriously suggest a desktop computer with dedicated graphics card. Good luck finding a docking station that actually does all that without breaking the bank. For us, this is the perfect flexible dock for fulltime staff and hotdesking users alike.

Presenta muchos problemas de software. Se desconecta continuamente y hay que reiniciar maquina para restablecer funciones. Es muy complicado calibrar los dos monitores que están conectados ya que el software de calibración se confunde con el device.
