MSI G27CQ4 E2, 27" 1500R Curved Gaming Monitor, 2560x1440 (WQHD), VA, 170Hz, 1ms, FreeSync Premium, HDMI, DisplayPort, Height Adjustable

I got this monitor for someone I know. At the time I bought it, it was one of the only monitors on sale which was weird as it was black Friday. I tested it before I plan on gifting the monitor to make sure it works and to see its performance. For reference, I have a 3070 TI. That being said the refresh rate was maxed out at 164hz and not 170hz. This could be because of my GPU or just a quality issue with the monitor, however, it is only a 6hz difference so it's really not a big deal.

Although it is only 165hz, the monitor is extremely good! It's just basic as it only has the tilt feature and doesn't go up and down. You can't beat the price of $170 though! I'd highly recommend!

After struggling to figure out why I wasn't getting the 170hz this offered, I figured out the solution! As long as your GPU is able and you have a DP (Displayport) cable, 1.4 preferably, all you have to do is on the back of your monitor press the red joystick and go down to the Setting option. Turn on DP OverClocking and that's it! Things on your display will move around a bit if you've already messed with some settings but that's all. Really This monitor is fantastic for the price. I'm glad I got it while it was on sale but even then the general price isn't bad at all. This is a great gaming monitor and I've always enjoyed MSI products overall so I didn't think anything less of it. Since it's a higher resolution you will definitely see some differences if you've never had 2k before like myself. The colors are great and it doesn't hurt my eyes after messing around with the settings a bit. Gaming is crazy good!! So many details. I already had a 1080p MSI as my main and a Samsung screen as my second monitor but wanted to get rid of that one and get another and newer MSI as my main and my older MSI (Optix G27C5) as my secondary. Glad I did, totally worth it! Definitely recommend it. It's weird having 2k on one and 1080p on the other, it will take some getting used to. Only had it a few days so far but no issues here as of yet!

Right out of the box the monitor was stunning. My old Viotek had to go due to the inability to Vesa mount. This monitor came in clutch and did just that. It upgraded my posture with the new location however, I spent over an hour Configuring the video. First things first. DPI - set HDR settings on in your display settings. You'll thank me later.

MSI is always my first choice in gaming equipment (GPU, Motherboard,monitor, and even laptop). This time, free sync really messed up everything. I have another monitor for the second monitor but it is better than this one. Every time switch screen, MSI stuck badly and appear black screen for two seconds but LG won’t. Even this is 2K 165Hz. Oh right, title said there is 170Hz, it is not true tho LOL (165Hz highest). Never try free sync that is my understanding. This one is in a really good price that is for sure. The LG is faster anyways!
