IOGEAR GCS1932-KM 2-Port DisplayPort1.2 KVMP with Wireless Keyboard and Mouse 2-port With keyboard mouse

I think this is my 5th IOGear KVM of the pricey variety in the past 15 years. They've all performed well. Only one had a power supply give out. Since getting a Dell U3219Q I wanted one of these because my existing one could not handle 4k and at the time they didn't have one that supported 60hz. Then this was born and I hesitated for over a year because of the price. So I used the HDMI and DP ports on the monitor and switched screens using the monitor software. Then used an even older IOGear KVM to manage the KB/mouse. Adding a laptop allowed me to finally justify the costs. BUT - turns out there's ONE catch in my particular scenario. Obviously this switch is all DP but my laptop only has HDMI. Simple enough I though, I have a 4k HDMI -> DP cable I'd gotten at BB on a whim one day. This just did not work at all. Could not get the laptop to display anything on the U3219Q. So the KVM is connected to the DP on the monitor. I just ran an HDMI cable from the laptop to the monitor and a USB cable from the laptop to the KVM. The monitor is smart enough to hunt for a signal when one goes missing. So when I switch between the desktops connected via DP and the laptop, it works just fine. Switching away from a desktop kills the DP connection between it and the monitor - so the monitor hunts around, sees the HDMI signal, and displays the laptops screen. That cable that didn't work is rated 4k so I'm not really sure why HDMI -> DP didn't work. Maybe it's something to do with the laptop, I have no idea. My workaround works just fine so I'm not motivated to figure out where the problem lies. I did use a similar adapter (short, not a full cable) recently to connect my prior HDMI KVM to a newer desktop that only had DP. That worked. Maybe I'll get another one of those and try it. If that works I'll post an update. I've used the Scroll-lock + number method for years to switch between devices. I can't remember if that's something I had to enable in the past or not. Really liked that this one supported that out of the box. Just put the manual away after that. I just learned something. Though no fault of IOGEAR, apparently some graphics cards don't behave well in a Windows environment when using a DP connection. It's nothing terrible, just terribly inconvenient if you always have allot of applications running that are not minimized and you're switching back and forth. For me, it's random - but sometimes when I switch, all of the windows that were open get resized (shrunk) on the machine I'm switching TOO. According to searches, this is widely known but new to me. If your running Windows and your monitor and machines all have HDMI connections, get the GCS1934H. SAME switch, just HDMI instead of DP. I'd never heard of this quirk with DP connections. IOGEAR support was lightning fast to reply and lay out all the details.

Purchased this product and have been troubleshooting for months with tech support from IOGEAR, replaced the unit and still not working with my setup. I have a very generic but new setup, and tech was not able to ID issue. The monitor will constantly go black similiar to a refresh, it will go black for about1-2 seconds. When I bypass the KVM switch there is no issue with computer, monitor cable setup. Would not recommend as universal device, seems to need a very specific setup for this KVM switch to work. Longer then 30 day returns are needed as it often takes time to work through with tech support, exchange devices etc. to troubleshoot.

Was excited to try it out with my new 4k Philip IPS monitor with my PC and Macbook Pro 2017. I also purchased a third party USB-C to displayport adapter on Amazon to make everything work, or logically it should work. However, the third party adapter was not responding well with this kvmp. On PC it worked perfectly fine and was able to extend my monitor with another one as well but when I switch it over to Macbook Pro, it was flickering and wouldn't display my Macbook Pro desktop properly. I eventually contacted IOGEAR's customer service and the representative informed me it can be two things. One is the firmware update and/or the second could be the adapter. I've checked the firmware update guide via their manual and it was instructed to connect the kvmp to a computer using Type A male to Type A male USB cable. However, the cable was never provided and I had to find other ways of obtaining the cable. I skipped that method and decided to try purchasing a new adapter and see if that helps. I literally had to purchase IOGEAR's own usb-c to displayport adapter to have it actually work. I got the IOGEAR's USB-C to Displayport 5k/8k adapter at an electronic store that was miles away during this covid-19 crisis... Since Amazon is not doing same day or next day delivery any more. Another drawback is the 5-10 second delay whenever I switch over to my Mac, but Mac to PC only takes 3-5 seconds. It scares me every time when I switch and it just shows black screen for couple of seconds. Also, be aware that if you have windows/dialogs opened on an extended monitor which is connected to kvmp and decided to switch over, all those windows/dialogs will be transferred to the current active monitor. Meaning... the switch itself is turning off the monitor when you're switching device. It can be pro and con depending on the user. On the plus side, it still recognizes my screen resolution when I switch.

I got this to enable 2 workers at 2 different workstations to switch/share control of a single 3rd touch screen monitor between the two of them. It worked exactly as I hoped. It has been rock solid for 2 years now.

Did not output video signal and no response to hotkeys from my keyboard.
