Works like a charm

I previously was using a KVM switch to share a keyboard and mouse between two computers. It was 15 years old, so I wasn't using the video sharing. I needed to purchase a new keyboard and found out it didn't work at all with my switch. So I purchased this switch and it works perfectly with the keyboard, despite the increased power and data requirements due to LEDs and macros. The remote button allows me to tuck the unit behind my monitors and free up desk space.

Simple, effective 4-port, 4-computer USB switch

Simple and easy to set up, takes less than a few minutes to start using, effective switch. Pros: - Clean, simple packaging - Removable USB 3.0 Type B Cables, of which are an appropriate length to plug in nearby computers - Removable 2.5mm switch button that can be replaced if it breaks - Low profile design, computers and switch plug in on back of unit, USB devices plug in on the front - Micro-usb port for powering devices if needed - No fuss setup, plug and play Cons: - Have to manually cycle between all 4 PC's 1-by-1. - LED indicator for the selected port might be difficult to see if the switch is far away from you It was hard to find a real con to this unit, it does exactly what I need it to do, and the minor inconveniences of having to click the switch button a few extra times is not a big detractor to the overall performance. A slightly better indicator LED design would be preferable, but isn't a dealbreaker.

Great product and does its job.

Effortless USB Sharing (4/5): If you have multiple computers and a limited number of USB devices, this switching hub is a handy solution. It allows you to seamlessly share up to four USB devices between two PCs with a simple press of a button. No more unplugging and plugging in devices when switching between computers. Easy Setup (4/5): Setting up the IOGEAR USB switching hub is straightforward. It's a plug-and-play device, and the included instructions are clear and easy to follow. You'll have it up and running in no time. Reliable Performance (4/5): The hub provides reliable performance, and I haven't experienced any issues with device connectivity or data transfer speeds. It effectively handles data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps, which is more than sufficient for most peripherals. Compact Design (4/5): The compact and lightweight design of the hub is practical for desktop or mobile use. It doesn't take up much space, making it an ideal solution for small workspaces or when you're on the go. Cost-Effective (4/5): Considering the convenience it offers in simplifying USB device sharing, the IOGEAR switching hub is reasonably priced. It saves you the hassle of purchasing duplicate peripherals for each computer, ultimately saving you money.

Working out pretty good!

Kind of expensive little device. I paid $150 for the GUS4C2. I kept looking at these KVM switches but most if not all had a disclaimer that they did not work with docking stations. I almost bought anyway once or twice, then this showed up stating it s fully compatible with docking station and switching between two computers. I have a Windows system, two laptops while one is for work. Formally I had to change the USB-C from one computer to the other and switch the USB for my pen tablet as well. Not a big deal but a nuisance and doing it twice a day, I thought there might be some additional wear and tear on the wires. Reluctant purchase, is working out great. There is a little button device you plug in ass a remote. Just press the button and the docking station will switch to the other computer. There is a light on the port switch device itself to display which computer is on (#1 or #2). It does successfully switch other USB devices that are plugged into the port switch. I am using display ports for two monitors. Ultimately it's an expensive luxury but certainly glad I have it now. I can switch back and forth from home to work with a single and no rearranging wires. Once in awhile my monitors might get interrupted but I think that happens anyway without this port switch.

Good device for sharing multiple USB ports

I upgraded from an older 1-port/2-computer IOGear switch to this one because I decided to move to a wired keyboard from a wireless keyboard that shared a dongle with my mouse. What I like: it works; easy to switch from one computer to another. The remote part is nice, because it lets me hide the USB hub under my desk with a piece of double-sided tape. Things I didn't like as much: it should have just come with a power connection instead of having to dig up a micro USB cable, and that connector should have been on the same side as the cables going to the computers. I would note I did need to plug the USB power cable into something. At times, I was finding my backlit keyboard would fail to initialize from sleep on my computer, if I tried to wake the computer with a key press. Maybe it is the keyboard at fault, or maybe it just needs more power than the little hub can deliver on its own without external power.
