Works great (but not with DP 1.2)

This KVM works great with my setup - one home-built desktop - one Thinkpad laptop (via IBM dock) - Dell Ultrasharp monitor - Logitech G213 keyboard - Logitech G402 mouse Fast switch time, very good image. When I enabled Display Port 1.2 on the monitor the KVM stoped switching reliably (it did switch back and forth but not always "detecting" the monitor). I was thinking of daisy chaining 2 Dell Ultrasharp monitors but gave up due to lack of room on my desk. Giving it 4 stars (instead of perfect 5) because this is advertised as DP 1.2 compliant. I understand that any of the other components might not play nicely so the KVM might work in other setups (but I did daisy-chain these monitors directly withouth KVM). Ultimately I don't need DP 1.2 enabled so it works fine for me

Works like a charm

I upgraded from the hard wired version of this product for my Display Port Monitor. My monitor and PC are DP, but my laptop doesn't have a DP connection, so I used the thunderbolt connection to connect this to the KVM. I purchased a 6' DP to USB-C cable which I used instead of the included DP to DP cable. Works great right out of the box. With the fact that the cables are not hardwired, anyone should be able to use this and change configurations for any type of situation. The KVM itself is small, and is easy to hide behind your PC/ Monitor/ Etc. It's also great as the input is in the front side of the box, and each output is on the left and right sides, so it makes if very easy to tell which computer is plugged into which side. The included cables are quite long, and I had no problem running them from the back of the PC to the KVM and from the KVM to the laptop. The cable on the remote is very long and you should have zero problems putting it where ever you'd like it to sit. I wish they would have included some type of double sided tape/ Velcro strips to attach the KVM and remote to the desk/ wall to help maintain position, but it's easy enough to add that after the fact. As for the price, it's not the cheapest thing on the market, but with the cost of KVMs currently, it's probably the cheapest DisplayPort KVM I could find that actually works with DP 1.2.

Better than most consumer KVMs but still not good enough for 2017.

For the IOGear GCS62DP: Partly because other switches are patheticly bad this switch is actually very good. This switch is a good fit if you have 2 low-end PCs, a basic mouse & keyboard with a fancy 4K monitor. Unfortunately for me I toggle between my work Lenovo ThinkPad and my personal gaming PC. The switch is powered by USB 2.0 which was not enough for my Razor keyboard but was fine with my Logitech wireless G700s mouse. I tested a generic wireless keyboard and the switch worked fine with that keyboard and the same Logitech mouse. I think as long as you have a simple keyboard/mouse without LEDs or special features the KVM will work. But to use my existing keyboard I had to buy a separate powered USB hub and run everything through it - the hub connects through the KVM's mouse port. FYI - when my Razor keyboard was plugged in to the KVM switch the numlock light would either stay on or off but not change, buttons would sometimes work, the mouse didn't work - only moved a little horizontally. Those are the symptoms of "not enough power" which a powered hub will fix. I chose a "Display Port" KVM switch because I have an Ultra-wide monitor and my laptop needs either HDMI or DP to use 2560x1080 resolution. This is where the KVM & laptop start to behave oddly. I couldn't boot and get a display (no image, just flickering). But if I opened the lid to the laptop and logged in, then the monitor would come alive and work fine. I think that is partly due to a bios-type login screen before windows starts - sort of DOS screen - so I surrendered to opening the laptop to login and then close the lid while it continues booting to the Windows OS. (when I directly connected the laptop to my monitor I got a perfect image and could login normally, just not through the KVM switch). IOGear support suggested a shorter cable which I did not have on hand. BUT THEN I plugged in a second monitor directly to the laptop using DVI. Suddenly the main widescreen monitor running through the KVM booted flawlessly - however the 2nd monitor didn't actually display anything, it wasn't even detected by the laptop so I couldn't run dual monitors. (dual monitors works fine without the switch, but not with it) This means I can only login with my primary monitor (without opening the laptop lid) if I keep the spare, dead monitor connected. Or...hopefully that shorter cable idea would have worked. Some things simply can't be explained. Gaming - forget it. While the display is the correct resolution and MHz there is bad lag. I think it is mouse lag, not video lag, but I am not sure. (yes, the mouse emulation is off) It feels like the mouse signals aren't keeping up with the mouse. When I connect the mouse directly to the PC, game response improves but is still not what it should be so perhaps everything has some lag to it. The result is that I have to constantly over-correct during games...so gaming is a disaster. In summary, I managed to get IOGear's switch to work but it is not good for gaming, can't run Keyboard with LEDs or anything that draws much power, laptop functionality was quirky at best. This KVM switch has good specs that are often found on gaming PCs but the performance falls too short for gaming. And this is one of the best KVM switches out there in what I would consider "price worthy" range. Welcome to the world of KVM switches where if it sometimes, sort of works it gets 3 stars! IO Gear's customer support was excellent. Good, knowledgeable people that taught me a lot about this product - confirmed the weaknesses I noticed with KVM switches in general and explained why. I wish for an affordable gaming KVM switch someday (that works with my quirky laptop). Meanwhile this particular KVM switch must be returned.

Very flaky performance with a laptop (fixed)

Well, Guess what? in my previous review (see below), I was having serious issues with switching to my Dell laptop that was interfaced to the DP KVM via a Dell docking station. I mentioned that I was purchasing a powered HDMI to DP converter (gofanco HDMI to DisplayPort 4K x 2K Converter with USB Power) to bypass the docking station. It worked! My Dell e6540 does not have a DP output, only HDMI. The adapter allows me to drive the DP KVM directly from the laptop bypassing the docking station. So far no trouble. I am able to switch between my two computers with no issues. I have even turned off or put the computers to sleep with no issues. I have increased my rating from 1 to only 3 stars because I had to fork out an additional $42 to make this work. IOGEAR, are you listening??? As other reviewers have reported, this DisplayPort KVM has many issues. I purchased this kvm because I also own the 2 port DVI version, GCS982U, that works flawlessly. I "upgraded" to the DP KVM version because I upgraded my monitor to a Samsung 4k with HDMI and DP (no DVI) inputs. To support the 4k monitor, I upgraded the graphics card in my HP Pavilion desktop computer. The other computer that I am using is a Dell Latitude E6540 laptop with a docking station. The Dell only has HDMI and VGA outputs. The docking station provides HDMI, DVI, and DP. With my orginal setup, using the DVI kvm, switching back and forth between my desktop and laptop was fast with a
