This converter is perfect for broadcast or professional use in a system that uses SDI. This is THE box to use for any system where you don't know if you'll need VGA or HDMI inputs from a laptop on stage. This perfectly converts whatever is coming IN on HDMI or VGA and converts it to any flavor of SDI output. If you need to scale, it will scale up/down, crop, letterbox, etc in order to make the input signal work at the output. It has a nice on screen menu for selecting output formats and scaling options. It will optionally embed onto SDI an audio stream via a 1/8" stereo input or the HDMI stream. Nice for use with a stage laptop used during a conference or seminar. I will agree with another reviewer that they have used an unnecessary 4pin power adapter that would be hard to replace if lost or burned out. I have this converter in a small kit box for events coverage, so not a biggie unless whoever borrows it does not pack it back up completely.

purchased this and it sucks... I purchased a dozen other types here on amazon and this is the only one that does not work .. Unfortunatly i tested / needed to use it after 30 days so the seller will not allow me to return it... Tried everything. .changing resolutions.. kitting the buttons and no luck getting it to work right. . Do not buy is not opinion.

I have bought two of these now and in the first one the power adapter doesn't work one after only six months. The second one, brand new, after ONE use has the power adapter STUCK where it plugs in. I would return it, but unfortunately with my free-lance work I will be needing to use it in the next few days. If I can find a product that is better before I work again I will be returning this one. Do not buy it if you need to plug it and unplug it in different places. I would not recommend wasting your money on this. Buy a better one.
