These are expensive compared to other usb to serial converters but I have never had them not work unlike some cheaper brands.

I can't believe they still make this. I bought mine 9 years ago and it's still the best USB/serial converter around. The thing I like best is that you can tell it which com port to emulate. That's important if your program has a fixed port.

I am a technician who relies heavily on serial communications and I have had issues with every other adapter I've tried. This one is more expensive than the others but works great with ABB Totaflow EFM's and Daniel 2350A chromatograph controllers. Short of a port replicator/docking station, this is your best bet.

I tried 2 usb-serial adapters before this one.. A Key Span and a TrendNet. Both of them did not work with the type of application I have... which is a continuous data stream of weather information from a system called EMWIN. I won't go into details on how the others did not work but suffice it to say that this device is working like a charm. It is more expensive but apparently the Chipset that is used in this device is superior to all others.. and worth the price to me.
