Price is ok I think for its specs. Thing runs kinda slow too, haven’t done installed on this laptop

First off I love this laptop, I have had none of the issues others are talking about I have upgraded the ram to 16gb as well as upgrading the HDD and m.2 but the ram is the only real necessary upgrade. I have extensively tested multiple games with this laptop at first I struggled to maintain 40-45 fps in games like the witcher 3, SOTR, and RE2 but after diagnosing the issue as throttling due to poor fan curves for the cpu, i went into the bios and disabled turbo boost on the cpu, this laptop now absolutely powers through almost any game on high to max settings at 60 fps. I've seen a few reviews saying that the fps drops when you connect it to another monitor this is a false statement if you connect it to a monitor that has a higher resolution then the fps will definitely suffer, which can easily be fixed by changing the resolution to 1080p this laptop is designed to deliver 60 fps at 1080p resolution it will reach that goal in almost any game you try to run on it. Literally no game I have tried to run is unplayable this is a budget laptop make no mistake it is not built to run the most demanding things on par with more expensive set ups. When i compared this laptop to my custom built desktop which has a ryzen 5 2600, and a RX 580 8gb, 32gb ram the performance in games is nearly identical other than it running a lot hotter around 60 to 70 degrees still not terrible temps than my desktop around 40 to 50 degrees in demanding games, my desktop obviously blows this laptop away in nearly anything else but my point is that you can buy this laptop for around the same price as i built my desktop for and the gaming performance is very similar. I use this laptop everyday at work for any work related purpose you can think of and it has never let me down it is very fast and snappy with everyday tasks. The battery life leaves a lot to be desired but it is a gaming laptop with a gpu so it is as good as expected. Overall i see the price on this laptop is over $1000 at the moment not sure why maybe because its an older model but i bought this laptop for $749 in 2019 if you can buy it for that price then its a steal if not go for a newer model with a 1660 or better in it. In the $700 to $900 price range this is one of the few laptops with something better than a 1050 1050ti or 1650 so hands down this is a better value for gaming than said laptops.

I mostly use this device to play rainbow six siege and honestly I have to say that it can run the game pretty well. For optimal performance I prefer turning every quality/graphics setting either to low or completely off, except keeping the antroscopic thing at 16x and texture quality at medium. The other settings don't really change the way the game looks enough to warrant the fps drop, especially on such a small screen. Maybe if you get a monitor like I am you could consider turning the LOD to medium and/or the shading quality to medium. With the settings I have and v-sync turned off of course (this reduces input lag with the addition of noticeable but honestly manageable screen tearing) in multiplayer I was able to manage an average of 120 fps ------- typically between like 110-140 fps at times unless my connection just sucked ass or I was playing for severalllll hours (4+ straight or something) p.s. for r6 players using this laptop I would also recommend the razer deathadder elite and a steel series mousepad -- that's what I use; also get Malwarebytes to scan for viruses. It's great and fast. Also I recommend sticking with edge as it is faster but it's honestly just personal preference My experience with my particular unit: Overall, I really like this product. For the price I got: $800 + tax it has great great value. However, I bought it used-very good and even though the device should have otherwise worked perfectly, it didn't. It couldn't connect to the internet and when I was setting up the laptop everything sounded rather squeaky. I contacted dell, got set up with an agent, who then directed me (pretty well) towards resetting my device. Unfortunately, I had to try to finish up the fix the next day because dell support hours were closing soon. Even more unfortunate was the fact that the laptop froze mid reset. The next day I waited until I was supposed to be called and basically was told during that time that dell was closed = I couldn't fix my laptop then and had to try the next day. I decided screw it and forced the laptop to shut down. It restarted but failed but the you're pc ran into a problem screen got it to work, and I reconfigured it no problem. Everything seemed fine until I disconnected from the internet and found that I could no longer detect networks again. My screen also turned black for a period of 2-3 seconds twice. Fortunately, restarting the device and updating most of everything seemed to fix roughly every issue I had. My only current issue is that the speakers still at times sound squeaky ---- this only seems to arise in very very rare circumstances like just now when I tried to get the you're not a robot key from amazon spoken aloud to me from my speakers. Furthermore, the speakers themselves sometimes don't work. I need to restart the device to get the laptop speakers and the voice recognition software to work properly --- hopefully I can figure out a fix soon ---- I check my system settings and everything should be working normally ---- the device is at default and the laptop says it is working properly. Overall, despite the issues which delayed me from using the laptop for about a day and despite the issues that still persist, granted that I got this laptop for roughly $150 less than a brand-new one and the fact that I think I can ultimately fix the speakers, it's alright with me. HOWEVER (CAPS FOR EMPHASIS) I LEARNED THAT WHEN BUYING TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS THIS ONLINE TO NOT BUY USED UNLESS IT IS CERTIFIED REFURBISHED OR LIKE NEW STATUS -------- THEIR DESCRIPTIONS DONT TELL EVERYTHING

I got this laptop solely because it had gtx1060 6gb in $900 range. Turns out, there was a lot of compromises that slips through the product description. First off, gtx1060 6GB is NOT the gtx1060 6GB we all know. It is Max-Q designed specifically for DELL. You might know that Max-Q is generally about 10% weaker than regular one. What you might not know is that this is DELL Max-Q, and is not supported by NVIDIA. Any and all driver for this card MUST be downloaded from DELL and DELL must provide it. It will often lag behind what NVIDIA provides, and we have no guarantee how long DELL will support this card in the future. Second, 8GB RAM in this machine comes with 2x4GB sticks. You'd expect to just add in extra 8GB for 16GB, but no. If you want 16GB RAM, be prepared to throw in full $150-200 for it. Also, 128GB SSD that comes with the rig is one of the slowest SSD offered, and is just too small in year 2018. Third, i5 8300H is good, but still reaches 90 degree easy with any CPU intensive game. This is sad truth of mediocre gaming laptop, and is true to this rig too. Fans do get loud to be expected. The laptop in idle seems to be making more electrical sound than other laptops I had. It is not fan sound or hdd, not sure what it is. Fourth, this laptop is FILLED with bloatware and DELL drivers. First time using, and it felt like using a $300 laptop. I had to do a clean install no questions asked. Other than those, decent laptop with good build quality. Keyboard and touch pad feels nice. The screen however is really weak... as expected from a DELL laptop in this price range.
