Disappointment - worse than Outlier V3

I had V3 and bought these for longer playtime. Sound quality is worse than v3. Playtime is nowhere near the advertised 15h per charge. They only last around 8-9h at 30% volume - same as other cheap buds sold on amazon. I am wondering if I might have received a refurbished set as the package was a bit distressed.

Average at Best at an Appealing Price

Sound Quality : 4 Stars Fit & Comfort : 3 Stars Design & Look : 3 Stars Noise Cancellation : 1 Stars Battery Life : 5 Stars Controls : 2 Stars Value : 4 Stars Sound Quality : I find the sound to have a Bass bias, but it can easily be corrected to my liking with the App settings. The sound quality is excellent for a pair of earbuds in this price category. Fit & Comfort: These have to be one of the most uncomfortable earbuds I have ever owned. They use the typical inner ear cups for the canal fit, but the outer casing is entirely hard plastic and does not give. They become quite uncomfortable when in ear for longer than 30 minutes. Design & Look: For their larger size they actually fit near the ear and do not protrude very much. While in-ear they do stand out a little more than I am use to from other earbuds, but not to the point where they are unsightly. The case/charger is a complete disaster. It is very large in size, visually unappealing, and seems to be fragile in construction. The case in uncomfortable when carried in one's pocket and looks like something designed in a short period of time with left over parts. Noise Cancellation: DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. Do not buy these earbuds for their noise cancellation function. From what I can tell there is no noise cancellation or suppression when activated. At least there is nothing that my ears can detect. The isolation of outside noise is fairly good even with the noise cancellation turned-off, but there is no noticeable reduction when it is activated. Battery Life: EXCELLENT. The earbuds easily last several weeks of all day occasional use. In 3 months of use I have never had the battery run out on me during use and I have only recharged the case a couple of times. The unsightly case does seem to have a very large battery which stores more charge than other earbuds and cases I have used in the past. Once returned to the case the earbuds do recharge quickly and always seem to be at 100% charge when I use them. The 100% earbud charge easily last more than an entire day before needing to be recharged. Controls: The controls operate similar to other earbuds by using touches or taps on the flat surface, but they are not as responsive as others I have used. They do not consistently sense tapping and I frequently find myself tapping multiple times trying to access the function. It has become quite annoying trying to pause audio from playing only to have the earbuds not respond to my taps. This should never be a problem in 2023 products and really needs to be fixed. Value: I do find the sound quality to be very good so if you can tolerate the other short comings they do sound quite nice for the price point. Given that the Noise Cancellation feature does not work at all I would not spend any extra money for this feature and opt to purchase the CREATIVE OUTLIER AIR V3 instead of these earbuds if I had the opportunity for a do-over. The CREATIVE OUTLIER AIR V3s seem to be quite similar to this product in most ways, but do not advertise noise cancellation. They are also usually priced about 30-40% cheaper.

The best Creative Bluetooth earbuds

Creative is a heavy hitter for its budget range. Their quality ranks up there with earbuds in the $100 bracket. I've used the first Outlier Air earbuds for years without trouble, until I broke them by stepping on them - but they still work! But I wanted a pair that didn't have bits of broken plastic. I tested out a bunch of different Bluetooth earbuds - including the other Creative Outlier Air models. And this is the best I can get that's not an Airpod or something like that. Of Creative's earbuds, I would say this, the Outlier Pro, is the best - even compared against Creative's newer V3 and Sensemore models. One of the main reasons is the bass - getting good bass on a Bluetooth ear bud is tough due to the tech and size limitations, but the bass on these are quite good for a Bluetooth earbud. Their drivers are larger than other earbuds, which probably helps. Overall, I think the sound quality is among the best I've had on a Bluetooth earbud. Another positive: the mic quality is excellent. Something that gets really overlooked in Bluetooth buds. The recording isn't tinny or monotone or staticky. People I talk to on the phone say it sounds very natural. The earbuds have 6 microphones, which is probably why it performs better than others in this area. The form factor is comfortable. They don't fall out of my ears, but they also don't have any hooks or feel bulbous or anything like that. They're quite light, which is nice. They are plastic, but it feels sturdy. Battery life is fantastic. I've never had them run out of battery. They claim to have a battery life of 60 hours (without ANC or anything on) - I've never tested that, but I have used them for 8 hour stretches and still having a huge chunk of the battery left. They also recharge extremely quick. I've read some reviews that claim the charge case is too big. I can see why some might think that, but I thought it was perfectly fine. The charge case is a unique setup - the internal charging area slides out from the outer covering - but I think I kind of like that. It helps make it more sturdy, less prone to breaking than other cases. I also like that they're very functional for using just one airbud at a time, and either one can do that. Negatives: I would say the noise canceling and ambient noise modes are functional, but not amazing. Noise-cancelling isn't too important for me, but I would say it wasn't amazing at it. The ambient noise mode seemed all right, but I don't think it made an enormouse difference. The tap controls could be more responsive. You need 2-4 taps to give commands, there's a 1-second delay for each command, and it doesn't always register the tap. Also - this is in the eye of the beholder, but I don't think it's as pretty-looking as the previous Creative earbuds. It's beige. Looks a bit boring. But still - would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to spend money on Airpods or Samsung Galaxy buds, but still wants the best sound.
