Toner cartridges are showing as "empty" within just a few months of use, and nowhere near the "capacity". All the color cartridges seemed to burn at the same rate, which is very unusual given "not everything you print will use the same amount of cyan/magenta/yellow", right? Well..there's a bit of..what I'd call "scam"...going on. I looked this up online, and found a video that says these cartridges show "empty" when they aren't. Reason is, there's a "gear" that starts off in a given position, and rotates with usage. Once it rotates to another position, it kicks off the "replace toner" alert, and of course, refuses to print. Following the video directions, it was as simple as: * Remove "offending" cartridge * Remove three screws from the left end, securing the end cap * Slightly lift gear in question, and rotate to what is described as the initial position * Replace cap...screws...cartridge Printer resets, and shows the cartridge in question as "full". Apparently, you can keep doing this until your printouts start looking like there is an obvious color deficiency. Print a sheet with the three toner colors, and replace the "weak" one. Note: the gear-to-be-adjusted is not included in the out-of-box cartridges, so this will be something you'd do after the first replacement. Sad, because otherwise, we love the printer.
