If you are using this for the XG17 it will work with one small modification, if you can even call it that. Basically the screw on the mount that attaches to the back of the monitor is too long, so it bottoms out and leaves the mount with wiggle room. I just folded up a piece of paper a few times to make it thicker and then put it under one edge of the mount before tightening it down and now it’s actually pretty solid. If you don’t do this, the monitor will tilt to the side where the cables are plugged in, but using some kind of shim like this eliminates the problem. Otherwise it’s a good monitor stand, I just wish it came without that design flaw and wasn’t so expensive. Understandably this is meant for multiple monitors and it might suit those better but there isn’t another good option I’ve found for the XG17 that don’t look bad on your desk like using a tripod would.

The only downside to this stand is the price. Other than that it looks great, feels well built and sturdy, and can tilt and rotate easily. I mostly used this at home but it looks like it could be easily taken apart for travel.

Asus first started selling the XG17AHP for several months without stocking the variant with the included tripod mount. Even after releasing the bundle with the tripod mount they never made it available separately. I've been searching for some kind of solution but traditional tripods mounts just don't grip the back side of the monitor and if you rotate the monitor or apply any weight to the left side then it just starts to unscrew from the mount and rotates freely. I thought this official mount's rubber pads would grip the back well enough to prevent this from happening but nope. Plug in some bulky cables to the left side and it just unscrews itself.
