USB-C to USB-C alone can’t power on the monitor

The monitor is nicely built and solid, but 1 major flaw is that the advertised USB-C power and video input is incorrect as I couldn't get the monitor to power on using USB-C single cable solution. Tried it on Lenovo P15, Lenovo P360 Ultra with TB4, MacBook Pro 14, iPad pro and none of them can power up the monitor and feed video without using USB-A for power. Asus tech couldn't get it to work and advise USB-A must be used to supply power. I was able to get USB-A and USB-C both plugged in for the monitor to work, and then disconnect the USB-A cable and monitor remain functional. But once you turn it off, you won't be able to get it working again without the use of USB-A. This is unacceptable for such an expensive monitor which advertised using USB-C as single cable solution and not working in real world application. It is a pity because it is the only portable monitor I found that came with full size HDMI (Not mini or micro HDMI), and the screen is nice with touch and stylus support. (It didn't work with my Lenovo Pro Stylus 2, but worked with the Bamboo Ink Plus). Anyway, no choice but to return it because I cannot get it to power up and working using single USB-C cable. What portability you have if you need to have 2 cables just to use it on USB-C ? Hope that future Asus product like this will address this problem. (Or unless the unit I got is defective).

Awesome, but has a very specific audience

It's exactly what I needed to sit under my main monitor and change spotify or discord (via touchscreen) without tabbing out of my games.

Great addition to a setup, but it has issues with limited connectivity for multiple output devices.

I bought the PA147CDV directly from Asus when it (finally) became available in late 2022 after having been announced some time in mid 2021. I had been waiting so long for what I had hoped would be the perfect mini touchscreen to go underneath my ultrawide for Discord, Spotify, YouTube, etc. while I'm working or playing games that I splurged on the purchase even though the price was about double what I expected. My desk setup has two machines - my gaming PC and my work laptop. I use a USB KVM to switch my webcam, microphone, keyboard, and mouse between devices and my main monitor usually auto-switches. This screen is perfect for what I had imagined, allowing me to have Discord open on a second screen below my main one while playing games (with touch control to swipe through chats, change chats, join/leave voice rooms, etc. without moving my mouse out of game - requires borderless windowed mode usually). It's also great for having Discord/YouTube/Spotify open while working to keep my main screen less cluttered. Unfortunately, this monitor has turned out to be quite the pain to get working on both of my devices. It has two USB-C ports and one HDMI. Both USB-C ports can handle power delivery to power the display. First, I tried directly connecting to my work laptop via USB-C since it has Thunderbolt. This worked fine, it powered the display and the touch control also worked well. When I connected my gaming PC via HDMI and USB-C to A, however, I could not get the touch controls to work whatsoever. The display connected, but the input device was not detected. Disconnecting from my laptop made it work, but who wants to do that every time they switch computers? Next, I tried adding a Thunderbolt card to my gaming PC for single-cable connectivity. It refused to POST/boot so I returned that. Next, I tried installing a USB-C/DisplayPort card. Unfortunately, this only partially worked, where the display output worked and the pen support worked but oddly enough NOT the finger touch support. I also found that this card cannot do power delivery, so I had to use one of the USB-C ports for power only from a phone charger (it accepts a 5V power source) which made connecting to my work laptop an issue. Finally, I tried another KVM with HDMI/USB-A JUST for this display that is connected to both my gaming PC and my work laptop. It works fine on my gaming PC and FINALLY my work laptop recognizes that there's another display device connected to it. It did not work when connected through the USB hub (which I specifically bought because it has two display outputs... Anker PowerExpand 11-in-1) so I tried a separate active HDMI to USB-C cable and it FINALLY works as expected. This whole debacle could have been avoided if it just had another input, either USB-C or HDMI.
