ASUS Internal 24X SATA Optical Drive DRW-24B3ST/BLK/G (Black)

After getting two disc drives, this is the one that came with it’s packaging; protected and complete. The B1ST Asus optical drive came bare in the blue bubble wrap amazon sleeve with the driver disc, so most likely the one selling that version is at fault, but this one(B3st) was protected well. Works out of the box; plug and play. I would even suggest ditching the driver disc it comes with since a quick search on Asus’ website shows that only has one driver, the 1.0 version. The other applications that come with the driver disc are bloat, just use window’s media player for burning (or your prefered application). Take this with a grain of salt, as I still need to check its longevity; barely got this delivered on September 23, 2023. Hope this helps those choosing this product for your burning or emulation hobbies. -update It is October the 6th. Attempted to burn a second disc but the same problems that happened with the B1ST happened. I don’t think Asus makes good optical drives.

I needed to replace a dead CD/DVD drive that died on the computer in my woodshop. This ASUS drive installed without any problems or issues. Everything is working as it should. I'm happy !

If you have a non AHCI motherboard, SATA components should work out of the box, even on a fresh XP install 32 and 64 bit. XP will throw an error when launching the software included with the drive on the installation CD, but it still works regardless. Even without the software, the drive works plug and play. I'm also surprised at how little noise this generates. I have an LG BD Drive on another computer that is quite a bit louder.
