OPEN BOX - Grandstream UCM6301 IP PBX

I got this PBX from Amazon, and programmed it myself. I have not fully developed the functions yet, but it is working perfect - with 5 VOIP truck numbers from IXICA, supporting 15 extensions. I programmed the device with helping from ChatGTP . I am not familiar with IT, but the experience is amazing. Now my office is with multiple IVRs, selecting languages first, then selecting extensions, releasing most work of our receptionist. We have Polycom phones for receptionists, and cordless Panasonic phones through HT802 or HT814 devices. I do have some problems with this device, e.g. the response is slow when waiting for IVR Reponses. I have not yet developed as effective protocol with the PLA, but it may be because I have not yet learned how to program (that part is actually complex, that to manage extensions, and visibly transfer calls between the extensions). For small business, it is much better to have PBX from the provider, that requires you have one line for each extension. I ordered services of 5 lines from IXICA, $20 each including North American unlimited calls, plus I tailored my own features, e.g. recording, cordless, meeting etc. I do suggest small businesses to have this system.

Setup was straight forward with the wizard, doing it on my own just didn't work so well, so why fight it let the wizard work its magic and tweak it as needed.

Not sure whether to blame the Poly endpoints (30 phones) or the UCM. But this system has been anything but stable in our deployment. Phones will repeatedly unregister from the PBX throughout the day, requiring a phone reboot. In the unregistered states phones can dial out but will not receive calls. In the PBX itself (non Polycom issue) SOME calls (no discernible pattern) will remain active, and will not hangup unless the whole PBX is rebooted. On the trunk side, the calls are not active (so they are not being billed), but when too many of these phantom calls build up the system stops accepting new calls due to "congestion". There is little to know resources, forums, etc. online for this. Having used 3CX and FreePBX in other deployments, nothing has given me more headaches than this Grandstream PBX. I know that Polycom can be finicky, which is why it is getting a second star. For all I know it works great with Grandstream endpoints. I just know we have wasted dozens of hours on this, and will be purchasing a 3CX license out of pocket to resolve relations with our client. Otherwise the UI is very nice, it is pretty feature rich (only missing feature request was voicemail transcription), good cost point (assuming it works), and the Wave app is great. Some of the resources make it seem like you need a UCMRS license to use Wave, though if you have a Static IP you can use Wave without the UCMRS licensing -- and setup is pretty straight forward.
