The DVT2810 VoiceTracer Audio Recorder from Philips is a portable, digital voice recorder designed to provide flexible, high-quality audio recording options, speech recognition/transcription software, and plug-and-play computer integration for interviews, presentations, classes, and more. It features two built-in microphones and settings that automatically adjust for your type of audio recording quality. Start recording at the touch of a button or have the record function begin automatically via a timer or voice activation. Record in PCM (WAV) or MP3 format to the internal 8GB memory. A microSD slot supports additional memory. The low-noise, two-mic system allows stereo recording without the use of external microphones.

Speech recognition software does not work on Mac OS

This item is still on charge, (Which is why I have no review for the hardware) during which time I decided to download the speech recognition software as intimated on the product info. Having reviewed the info, I can see that the playback is only accessible on MacOS, but the wording of the info makes that very unclear. Disappointed with that but ill see how the machine works before making a full judgement.

ich hab noch den vorgänger herumliegen, mit batteriefach und sd-kartenslot... und hab mir eigentlich mehr von dem neuen gerät versprochen. softwareseitig bietet der recorder garnix neues, hat fest verbaute 8gb und einen fest verbauten akku. letzteres ist eigentlich in der eu ein absolutes no-go. aufnahmetechnisch bietet der neuere rekorder garnix an mehrwert, selbst in diagramm liess sich kein unterschied zwischen dem alten und dem neuen gerät erkennen. die dragon-software hat im alten gerät sowenig funktioniert, wie in neuen, das als kaufargument fällt alsi auch unter den tisch. alles in allem: es macht keinen sinn, das ding zu kaufen, wenn man schon sowas hat. im gegenteil, ich hab noch sowas aus dem reich der mitte rumliegen, nur ein drittel der grösse, leider das display auch, macht aber für 20 taler den gleichguten job wie dieses unanständig teure gerät.

Takes some training but works well

The unit is light and actually feels kind of cheap but the display is OK, it has no power off button so it may consume power when not in use and after prolonged storage may need a recharge to use. I like that I can say things like "Period, New Paragraph" and it works... It is supposed to get more accurate as corrections are made. All-in-all the price is OK considering you get the software to convert speech to text as well, and it can be installed on multiple computers. I like that because I have my Home PC, My Office PC and my Laptop so I need to install this on all 3, down side is I need to read a 5 min document to train all 3... Whew! To summarize, The price is on point with other recorder options, it records very well, with 8GB internal storage (only - No SD card Option) Does not have a threaded mount... Dragon Natural needs to learn your voice and accent so there is a training session required... The software can translate audio files from other recorders so that is a bonus too...
