Creative BT-W5

First do not laugh, it had break in before it works at is best. May be about 150 hours. I use it with a pair of Focal Bathys that i own since a year . At first it it was harsh mainly with the high frequency and lack ``air`` or 3D. With the creative APP on my laptop i was able to increase the BT transmission to 24 bit at 96000Kz and that definitively inprove the sound details and the 3D. As the number of hours of breaking in increase: the sound became warmer and more organic. I like it! Pretty good for 65$ CDN. I just wish to try a higher end one like a Mc Intosh and compare, May be in th future...

Cumple con su función, transmite aptX Adaptive correctamente y de manera estable, el único pero que le pongo, y la razón del por qué las 4 estrellas y no 5, es que el pairing mode podría ser mejorado a nivel indicaciones.

Funciona con s22 ultra sin necesidad de conectarlo a una pc o a una mac. Se nota mucho la diferencia en la calidad de audio. Sin problemas de estabilidad.

While this adapter is great, I love the software and features, I bought it for my Sennheiser Momentum 4's and it does not play well with them in low latency mode. aptx HQ mode is fine, but with low latency mode you get constant cracking and popping while listening to anything. Not sure if I can blame Creative for it but the headphones will also randomly disconnect at times. None of this is a problem when I use the Sennheiser bluetooth dongle. Its a shame because I like the Creative software a lot more. I use the Jam V2's and they work great. Seems to be a compatibility issue.

Edit: I tried mounting the adapter on a USB extension away from monitors and case but the audio still clicks and pops in Adaptive LL mode. The BT-W5 is going back :( I'm trialing this against the Sennheiser BTD600 both paired to a Momentum 4 AptX Adaptive headphone. The BT-W5 has a low latency vs high quality toggle while the BTD600 uses a middle-of-road optimization for reliability/latency/quality. The BT-W5 high quality mode has nearly lossless compression with almost no aliasing but at over 300ms latency it is unusable where audio-video sync is required (gaming/videos). The BT-W5 low latency mode has 60-80ms latency but a lot more aliasing in a sine sweep from 20kHz. However this latency is perfectly fine for gaming. The BTD600 falls around 100-120ms latency on firmware 1.20 which is an increase from earlier firmware, but so far has demonstrated much better connection stability than the BT-W5. I'm still not sure whether I'll keep the BT-W5. I will mount the adapter on a USB extension on my wall and see if that improves the connection stability compared to its current location on my case. I will note that the BTD600 has no problems on the wall or on the case. A little more latency I can live with, but the clicks and dropouts are unacceptable. On another minor note, the Creative software sometimes can't find the adapter's connections without restarting the app.
