As a small business owner myself, I can't help but rave about the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX100! This little device has made my life so much easier by automatically recognizing and sorting receipts, saving me tons of time. What I love most about it is how user-friendly it is. Even without technical expertise, setting up and using the scanner is a breeze. Plus, it's super portable, fitting easily into my bag or briefcase when I'm on the move. And let's talk about space! The iX100 takes up barely any room on my desk, perfect for my limited office space. I've also managed to empty my wallet of all those receipts, which feels great for decluttering my workspace. I have been using Neat Receipts for years, and also have an industrial grade Fujitsu Scanner at the office. When I'm on the road, I'd like to scan my receipts with a real scanner, and send it over to Neat Scan Utility. For some reason, this took about a full day to try to get working... If you follow the instructions on loading SnapScan Home, then hook up the USB scanner, then configure the various wireless connections (using the access point, and then point to point, and then the IOS wireless connection), it's a bit complicated. Ultimately there is a connection between the SnapScan Home program, and Neat Scan Utililty. This is the part that took so long to get it to work properly. As far as the scanner itself, it's super portable, runs on either a battery (~240 pages scan per battery charge), or usb connection for data/power to and from the computer. The scans are excellent, and if you travel and need to sign documents and return, this scanner provides vastly superior images than taking a picture with your phone. Now that it is all configured properly, I'm looking forward to using it all of the time to facilitate and reduce my paperwork nightmare... The scanner only scans 1 side at a time, and the included software (SnapScan Home) has all the features you need to configure your scan settings, and the output format (pdf, jpg, etc), color (b/w, etc.) and file location for the scanned documents. For me, this is replacing a couple of older scanners that no longer talk with MACOS... ! (you know the drill... new o/s, and all new peripherals and interface cables. Once you have all in order, it's time to go to the newer version, and repeat the process).
