Works great and excellent support

I used this Tripp-Lite U437-002 to hook up an external microphone and headphones to my 2016 macbook. I chose the USB-C connector so that it would be compatible when I upgrade to a new macbook or ipad. The first 15-20 year old mic I tried didn't work well; the volume was really low and unstable. I contacted Tripp-Lite support, and they helped me realize that I was using a monoaural mic. I had a second similarly old Radio Shack dynamic mic, but it had a 1/4" stereo plug. I used a 1/4" to 1/8" stereo adapter to plug it into the Tripp-Lite, and the system worked fine. I am using this setup for zoom calls. In a little test, I found that the external mic and headphones made my voice sound much better and deeper than using Airpods (made my voice very squeaky and tinny) and the internal mic/speaker in the mac (made my voice a little squeaky).
