Great little speaker. First had the battery op, but now upgraded to rechargeable. Highly recommended!

I purchased the original Spracht BluNote in 2011 and it was a wonderful thing until it wasn't. The original unit stopped pairing with my phone. I called the 800 number and the gentleman tried to get me a warranty replacement but couldn't since it was out of warranty. Fair enough but kudos for trying. My review of the original unit is posted below and still stands. I ordered the current 2.0 Portable 10-Watt version and I am not impressed. First the fit and finish is not as solid as the original. The original feels more substantial in your hand, this new version looks more plastic-y. The control buttons don't feel as solid when pressed. The volume buttons are in inverted order. I have never had any other device where the volume up button was on the left of the volume down button but that is exactly what this unit has. WTF. Also, this thing comes with USB power cord 18 inches long with no wall plug connector. What am I supposed to do with that. That's just chickenshit. Come on people raise the price by fifty cents and give me a 5 or 10 foot cord with a wall connector for this thing. It is supposed to stay plugged into the wall outside my bathroom. Now it has to share a charger with my smartphone. I know it has a Li-Ion battery but there is going to come a time when both my phone and my speaker are low on battery and I will have to choose which to charge. It also comes with a 3.5mm audio connector which might come in handy if it weren't only 18 inches long as well. Sigh!!! The good news is the new unit is much louder than the old unit which is a plus. And the microphone allows for a decent phone conversation if you use it as a speakerphone. But if I had it to do all over again I would buy the original version for half the price on Amazon. I think they cut corners where it really doesn't make sense to cut corners. I shopped around before I bought this and this is not a bad value when compared to similar items at twice the price but I am unimpressed when compared to the original unit. My first impulse was to pack it up and send it back but a cruel world has taken all the fight out of me so I will just keep it. I probably would have rated this thing 2 stars but I gave them an extra star for tech support answering the phone.
