Reliable and Fast

No fuss to install and set up. Speeds are very close to advertised (mine was a little higher). I've always bought Samsung and have never regretted that. I've bought other brands before but got "burned (sometimes badly).

Top Choice for Gamers & Those Who Need Speed, Storage Capacity & Reliability!

If you are looking for a fast, reliable, and spacious SSD for your PC, you should definitely consider the Samsung 990 pro 2TB PCIe Gen4. X4 NVMe 2.0c - M.2 Internal SSD. This SSD is one of the best in the market, offering blazing-fast performance, high durability, and low power consumption. The Samsung 990 pro 2TB SSD uses the PCIe Gen4. X4 interface, which delivers up to 7,000 MB/s of sequential read speed and up to 5,100 MB/s of sequential write speed. This means that you can transfer large files, load games, and boot your system in seconds. The SSD also supports the NVMe 2.0c protocol, which enables faster and more efficient communication between the SSD and the CPU. The Samsung 990 pro 2TB SSD is also built to last, with a total bytes written (TBW) rating of 1,200 TB. This means that you can write up to 1,200 TB of data to the SSD before it wears out, which is equivalent to writing 600 GB of data every day for 5 years. The SSD also has a mean time between failures (MTBF) rating of 1.5 million hours, which means that it has a very low probability of failing during its lifetime. The Samsung 990 pro 2TB SSD is also designed to consume less power than other SSDs, with an average power consumption of only 6 W. This means that you can save energy and extend the battery life of your laptop or mobile device. The SSD also has a dynamic thermal guard (DTG) feature, which monitors and adjusts the temperature of the SSD to prevent overheating and performance throttling. The Samsung 990 pro 2TB SSD is compatible with most PC systems that have an M.2 slot and support PCIe Gen4. X4 or lower. The SSD comes with a 5-year limited warranty, which covers any defects or malfunctions that occur during normal use. The SSD also comes with a Samsung Magician software, which allows you to monitor the health and performance of the SSD, update the firmware, optimize the system settings, and more. The Samsung 990 pro 2TB PCIe Gen4. X4 NVMe 2.0c - M.2 Internal SSD is a great choice for anyone who wants a fast, reliable, and spacious SSD for their PC. It offers outstanding performance, high durability, and low power consumption, making it one of the best SSDs in the market. I highly recommend this SSD to anyone who is looking for an upgrade or a new build.

Samsung Quality - 7GB/sec

This is the latest and greatest Samsung SSD in a massive 4TB size. Samsung is the king of SSDs and this doesn't disappoint. The AJA speed test is being run in a 2019 Intel Mac Pro using a Highpoint SSD7540. The one that is roughly 6.5GB/sec is 1 drive, the almost 11.5GB/sec is with 2 in a raid 0. When tested in a PCIE 4.0 x4 slot on a new Gigabyte motherboard, the SSD tests at almost exactly 7GB/sec read and write with an Intel 14900k. I'll come back an update this review with 8 of these in a RAID 0 with the SSD7540. So far, I'm wildly impressed.

What a great drive, installation was easy.

This review is for the 2TB 990 pro SSD drive. What a great drive, an upgrade from my old Intel 1TB SSD. I have to admit there isn't THAT much of a faster feel to the machine after the upgrade, but benchmarks show that it is a lot faster and I was out of space heh. Plus my MB is only PCI 3 so I'm not getting the fastest speeds this drive can do, but it is still a lot faster. After watching a lot of tube videos about installing these things that involved expanding and moving the partitions after installation, actual installation was a just a snap using the Samsung data migration tool (download it). I mounted the drive in the second M.2 slot on my MB. All I actually had to do was run Windows disk management and initialized the new drive as one big partition, then run the Samsung migration tool. The tool moved all the data, expanded the Windows partition to 1.8TB and moved the Windows backup partition to the end all without any further input. It took about 20 minutes for a full 1TB of data. Then I left the drive in the other slot and removed my old drive and the machine booted fine (both M.2 slots are the same speed on my MB, but if yours aren't put the new drive in the fastest one).

Breath new life into an old computer

Almost nothing to complain about here. The Samsung website has two helpful downloadable apps for managing and cloning your source drive to the Samsung drive. Minus one star [maybe two??] for making the Data Migration and Magician apps ignorant of some non-Samsung SSD products. YMMV, in my case neither app would recognize the OEM's Western Digital 500Gb SSD so beware. When it comes to morphing your disk data to whatever size SSD (upsizing or downsizing) -Macrium will and its free. Thankfully, the Western Digital Acronis app to move data from the WD SSD to the Kingston SSD will also perform OS, boot and data mirror and is not bitchy about disk size. It will also +/- re-partition if needed. I was able to USB-C NVME M.2 dongle SSD to another SSD inside a laptop. It was slow but it did the job. The Samsung migration tool required nearly 3 hours to mirror 1.7Tb of data from USB-C Kingston SSD dongle to the internal 990 Pro NVME M.2 SSD, at about 32Mb/second transfer rate. The 990 Pro got fairly hot (109'F) during the process. Samsung 2Tb 990 Pro performance; Compared to a 2Tb 3 year old Kingston, not that fantastic. The greatest difference the app indicated was in random read IOPS at 534179 (ASUS FA506IU) to the Kingston 217285 iops. Most other benchmarks were within 500-600 iops of each other, with exception of random writes [king=151855 / Sam=130126]. Don't know why. A noticeable difference when booting from the 990 pro. I surmise that is a sequential read @ 3715 iops. This SSD came with NO heat sink. It is important to help an SSD keep cool for highest performance and lifespan. I used a trimmed bit of .125" thick polymer heat transfer media between the SSD and laptop case as heat spreader since this model has no fan forced flow for either of its two SSD slots.
