Tripp Lite Power Strip 120V Right Angle 5-15R 8 Outlet 15' Cord 24" Length - PS2408RA

I’ve been using several different brands of metal surge protectors. So far 2 of the 3 cheap ones have failed. This tripp lite 8 strip looks and works like new.

I bought this power strip to use in my office for my computers and equipment. I needed something that can clip to the back of my desk, so I can organize all the power cables under the desk. In addition, I also had USB-powered devices, so a power strip with USB power ports was a bonus. This power strip has both the clamps (2) for the desk and 6 USB charging ports, so I can plug various devices into the power strip. At this time, I have three external hard drives, some USB-powered fans, a USB-powered phone charger, and a USB AC adapter and my router/firewall plugged into the power strip without any problems. Keep in mind that even though there are 6 outlets on the power strip, it is quite long - 91.44 cm (36 in). With my monitor clamped to the back of my desk, I couldn't fit this power strip behind it, so I moved it to the side of my desk. The power outlets in each group of two are close together, so I couldn't connect 2 brick adapters in the same group of outlets. I had to connect a brick adapter in each group. Connecting such an adapter doesn't impede the outlet beside it, but only a regular plug would connect if a larger adapter is used in one of the outlets. The right angle of the outlets allows both a brick adapter and a regular plug to be connected side-by-side. Besides the long length and the close outlets, I would recommend this power strip to anyone needing one that clamps to the back of a desk. If you have mostly standard size plugs, then this will work well. There are enough amps from the USB ports that you can easily charge devices. Pros: * Easy to assemble - in fact, there isn't much to assemble. Connect the clamps to the desk, and then snap the power strip into the clamps. * Provides enough power through the USB ports to charge my Galaxy S10. * Can power my USB fans from the USB ports. * Sturdy construction - metal housing. * Right angle outlets make it easy to connect devices. Cons: * The power outlets are close together - I can't use large adapters next to each other. I had to plug one of my external hard drives into each group of the adapters since the hard drives have large adapters. * Quite long for the number of outlets - the outlets would work better if they were more spaced out.

I've turned into a Tripp Lite fanboy the past few years and quite a power distribution nerd, trying to find the perfect product for each nook and cranny of my home. I ordered the 8 right-angle outlet, 24-inch power strip with 15' cord (14 AWG with right-angle plug) to use at a small computer desk to free up cord clutter from the floor. It sits on the desk itself toward the rear and has perfectly spaced outlets for a laptop, monitor, clock radio, and multiple cell phone and tablet chargers that all used to be on the floor by my feet. I no longer have to bend down to find the right cord to charge my cell phone or Fitbit. The Tripp Lite power strip feeds into an APC SMC1500 sine-wave UPS, and the UPS feeds into a Zero Surge 8R15W-I series mode surge protector. I guess that's about $700 in power products just for this particular area, but it's a configuration that looks good, functions well, and covers all my bases as far as power distribution, power loss protection, and transient voltage protection. This power strip's a little pricey, but it has a lifetime warranty, looks attractive, and is good metal construction. I expect this to last many years doing its job 24/7 being out of the way. Only improvement is I wish their products were made in the USA again.

I'm beyond very happy with the Tripp Lite power strip. I had a serious problem with 5 Voltage Adapters (wall worts) that I had to connect to my new Tripp Lite UPS. The power output plugs on the UPS were mostly stacked as close as possible together, which made it impossible to plug them in directly. My first attempt at a solution was to use short power cables, and a couple of Y power cables to help me plug in all of the adapters plus a couple of direct AC plugs. It worked, but resulted in a mess, with all of the adapters in an unsightly pile on the floor, as shown in the first picture, and no way that I could see to clean it up. Scanning through Amazon for a solution to my problem at 3 in the morning, I came across the Tripp Lite 8 Outlet Bench & Cabinet Power Strip. While I would have preferred that they had oriented the receptacles with the plugs perpendicular to the length of the strip, I was confident it would accommodate my adapters, which it does, with one outlet to spare. I really appreciate that they included of a sturdy shield for the power switch, to prevent inadvertent power losses. The unit is built to industrial standards, encased in solid aluminum all around, and the receptacles fit tightly to the adapter plugs, so there is no risk of fallout. The strip does not include a surge protection device, so it it ideal for attaching to a UPS system. With the addition of the power strip, I was able to clean up the installation, and also get everything off of the floor. The second pic shows the end result. The only thing I wasn't pleased with was the 15 ft AC power cord. I could have ordered the one with a 6 ft cord, but the listing showed it costing at least $10 more than the 15 foot model - I didn't understand the logic of that pricing at all. I was going to just leave the power cord in place, but decided to bite the bullet and cut it short. I added a good quality Hubbell power plug. I know that I probably violated the lifetime warranty, but I seriously never expect to need it.

I got this to mount on a work table for my wife in our workshop and it fit the bill perfectly. These are a bit higher than some but the quality is way better than most. Its well worth the difference. I'd used these before at work many times so I knew what to expect and that they were well made. Looks like nothing has changed in that regard. The whole tripp lite line is good quality and I have a number of their products. I have yet to be disappointed with them or the value you get for the money. The very long heavy cord is great and was a must have for me as I wanted to route the cord around the table with tie wrap mounts and keep it out of sight to make things neat. Seems everyone wants to skimp on cord to save manf. costs and up profits. The mounting clips used to mount this thing are as easy as it gets and they hold it super secure and solid. I hate those cheap ones where you slide a unit on two screws. They are awkward to mount and never very solid. This system is much better.
